    Pros

Our top Manager jumps in and WORKS the floor-I've seen her resetting displays, pushing a rack down the aisle, even help me rebalance a display rack so no injury occurs
I feel like the Macy's staff is extended Family, some have promotion to another store-feel like I'm losing family.
When have problem, manager in charge available for advice and comes to help

    Cons

Recovery-everyone expected to replace clothes to selling area, sounds easy, but when big sale times 4 or more go back racks. Never ending
Times air is too warm-customers have complained hot in store. One customer commented trouble breathing
Unable to sit during shift, would appreciate stool at register, feet get tired
Expected to get credit cared application each day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please-more recovery staff! After big sale can look like hurricane blew through.
Realize cost containment-please lower air so customers can shop and breathe
Remember that some people are strrugling to pay bills, others want "points" for travel

    Pros

    Flexible Schedules
    Benefits
    Commissions
    Working with Customers/Associates
The Management and Human Resources care about their workers and want to listen.

    Cons

    The Pay

The hours you're assigned. But if you're lacking in hours, you can always go online and pick out a shift.

The sales goals can sometimes screw you over. Your goals force you to compete with other associates, because sharing departments with other coworkers can potentially set you behind. If a customer makes a return then you get punished for it.

No commission guarantee - You are most likely to get commissions if the customer did not return the item you sold him within 6 months. If he did, you just lost commissions.

You are required to open up credit cards every week, or else you could lose your job. My store required 1 credit account open per 10 hours worked. It's an unrealistic goal because 80% of my customers have a card, and the rest don't want anything to do with it.

-You are forced to basically kiss up to angry customers, even the most dishonest ones.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop requiring associates to open credit card accounts for people, and instead reward them for doing it. Don't punish associates by taking away commisions or increasing their sales goals just because customers return merchandise that they rang up. It's not their fault.

Current Employee - Sales Associate in Miami, FL

    Pros

Pay is fantastic.... I can sell and don't sleep on the job so I'm making minimum plus commission every week.
Macy's customers are amazing. If you treat them with respect and good customer service they will buy from you.
Scheduling is flexible and it's easy to pick up hours and give them up if needed.

    Cons

Managers at my store don't have a clue and don't answer the phone when you call them. I'm better off being my own manager.
Store is disorganized and I'm having to carry the weight for those who don't do their jobs correctly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grab the clue that's flying around and stop ignoring major issues.
