I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

Meeting people, flexible scheduling, challenging yourself to solve problems, supportive environment, autonomy, good experience. The things that Macy's does well are very well thought out and executed.

    Cons

Compensation, metrics, occasional disconnect from initiatives. The emphasis on customer service is genuine and the majority of interactions are positive, but incentive is on quantity over quality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Associates are not well paid, so when concerns are raised it is important to consider them valuable. Empowerment eases pressure.

  2. · Met company’s productivity standards for all operational processes including replenishment and recovery of sales floor

I have been working at Macy's full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

friendly staff, schedule, time off and good learning environment.

    Cons

Management always push you beyond your limits, Last min management decisions, selfish kind of senior environment. You do your best and someone else gets the rewards, No job training, favoritism etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not a promise that you can not do or capable of. Employees need more attention and pay raise as you guys are paying peanuts. First Job in US and hate it most didn't even like a bit but thanks for the opportunity.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Macy's is a great place to work. I like that they have so many items for me to look at while I sit at the cash regiester.

    Cons

Sometimes the hours can be a little long and sometimes customers dont have very nice things to say to me. I wish they always said nice things to me.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Macys is a company that looks to promote from within and job postings are very easy to find. The amount of vested time and vacations time is very fair and easy to take.

    Cons

The job as Merchandise Manager is becoming to be less merchandise and more operational which is not the problem. The problem is the time you can dedicate to either side is becoming more difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The chance for advancement is available and the compensation for advancement is normal. Macys has a good work-life balance for the retail world

I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

They are very flexible with scheduling and hours, and my store was a positive working environment.

    Cons

Sales associates don't make any $$, and you work your butt off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the commission pay system. If you pay people a living wage, you'll retain better talent and spend less money in the long run on training and hiring.

    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

    Extensive Training, great community spirit.

    Cons

The leadership should be ashamed of themselves! I am still waiting for a call back from my manager (from Christmas) after 5 phone messages and 3 personal visits. Ridiculous. It's no wonder Macy's is always hiring.
Their computer would randomly assign you to days you purposely did not sign up for since there wasn't enough staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask for feedback. Return calls. Be a manager.
