    Pros

Great people, good and fun environment, fast paced environment, flexible schedule.

    Cons

Below average pay, 30 cent raises for being a superb associate, closing every weekend. A few bad managers.

    Advice to Management

Train managers to be more employee oriented instead of them just having the mentality that "I'm a manager so I'll just tell people what to do"

Macy's base pay rate is lower than that of other companies and a lot of times that low pay does not measure up to the amount of work out in

    Advice to Management

    Pros

    - Macy's is always hiring, so a majority of people usually get called
    - A great job for people with little to no job experience in merchandising or retail
    - Friendly Staff / Everybody is easy to get along with
    - Work is pretty fast-paced, so there is rarely any "down time" / You're always doing something
    - You get a clear understanding of how retail works, and you learn how to shop smarter within the store

    Cons

    - It is extremely hard trying to get hours, unless you work in sales. Merchandising Associates usually just get whatever hours are given to them, and there is no room for negotiation
    - If you're on the flex team, you do not receive Holiday Pay when you work on holidays.
    - Flex Team / Support Team averages from about 8 - 12 hours a week
    - Can not depend on Macy's as your only job, unless you work full time, which is hard to receive.
    - Not enough room for advancement
    - Employee discount is so complicated. You get 20% off, however, you have to either open up a Macy's credit card account or get a Macy's Pre-Paid Card. How the discount works is, you pay full price at the register and a month later, when you get your statement, they put the 20% back into your card, instead of just giving you the 20% then and there. It makes the 20% discount not really worth it.
