    Pros

The work itself is relatively easy for warehouse work. Work/life balance is good.

    Cons

Low pay. Terrible management. Managers have unrealistic expectations and no apparent foresight to see potential problems that will occur. I use to hear complaints about favoritism and didn't believe them but it's true. They typically have job postings for positions that they know darn well who is already going to fill them but they waste everyone's time making you think you have a chance.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES! Stop the favoritism. Set realistic expectations.

    Pros

The best reasons for working here would be the weekly paychecks, you start out with $10-11.50 an hour. (I was a warehouse employee in Martinsburg, WV)

    Cons

Overworked. They lead on employees for seasonal and imply that you will be hired so you show up for the last few shifts and then they fire you on the last day. HR informed my supervisor (who was my friend) to inform the employees to keep checking their schedule online for the next few weeks to see if they are scheduled, but they weren't going to schedule. This was in hopes that people would not go to the unemployment office to collect.

    Advice to Management

For being a multi-billion dollar company, you should treat your employees better. If you do not have the work for the employee's let them know a few weeks before you will lay them off and don't lie to them and prevent them from finding replacement jobs. You are messing with people's lives and it is wrong.

    Pros

Working at Macy's MLO taught me valuable HR systems. I found the career I wanted.

    Cons

No communication. The HR manager was manipulative & divisive. The corporate office would not let go of control to allow the local team to mold the environment towards our community.

    Advice to Management

Let go of control. Clean house in the HR department. I would come back if that happens.

    Pros

Pay is decent but not great

    Cons

training is really bad, insurance is outrageous, everyone thinks they are in charge, too many bosses and supervisors. most supervisors don't "work" just stand around and talk. Hours are long, and they are only worried about numbers, they could care less about you as a person.

    Advice to Management

start over!!! care about your employees more and pay alittle more, you tell us what the company is making and you pay us peanuts and work us like dogs. Breaks are too short for 12 hour shifts and need more seating outside

    Pros

This is a easy simple job but is not very challenging.

    Cons

Pay is low but it should be because you are unskilled labor. Macy's will not pay for any schooling but the good news is that the job is so simple you do not need any. At most companies a regular operator has a more technical job than this one. This is not a real mainenance job you are a glorified cjanitor. Job duties include painting, unclogging toilets, working on paper towel and soap dispensors and some times unjamming conveyors. Working here will not prepair you for working a real maintenance job. You also change batteries and operate the compactor and bailer. I have worked over 20 years in maintenance and this type of work is beneath me.

    Advice to Management

Just promote the battery changer to do this job.

    Pros

Good vacation policy, the in house leadership works together through extremly difficult situations to ensure succcess of the daily operations.

    Cons

Peak season is seven days a week for executives. Starts in October ends in December. Often you are asked to work extra days to cover for weaker managers.

    Advice to Management

Use the experience you gain here to go to a company that understands fulfillemnt.
