I have been working at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for. Company encourages new ideas and thinking differently in order to drive sales. Many creative thinking and passionate individuals who are committed to achieving one common goal and are driven to perform at a high level. Clear communication on many levels of the organization. If you are willing to relocate, you have the opportunity to advance more quickly - provided you perform at a high level.

    Cons

Long work days. Travel policy does not benefit anyone who lives far from where they work.

    Advice to Management

Advice to my supervisor - Demonstrate professional behaviors for someone who holds an RVVP title.

I worked at Macy's (More than 5 years)

    Pros

. Company is doing a good job of adapting to the ever changing retail environment. Focus on Omni channel initiatives

    Cons

Focus too much on metrics outside of sales. Have lost sight of what the number one driver of revenue. Continuing to cut costs and placing more work on sales associates and managers. Compensation is much better for new Mgrs rather than those who have grown with Company.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on training and development. Show more loyalty to those who have given time to the company.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can get promoted fast if you work hard. The HR people actively look for talented folks to promote.

    Cons

The store I work at is a bit dated and could really use a boost in technology. And also a few higher end departments might help bring in the richer people in our city.

    Advice to Management

With the boom in omnichannel shopping the stores could be modernized to help streamline orders from online that are to be picked up immediately in a store.
