I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

It is possible that if you need a job, you can get one here. They hire people of all ages, almost everybody for temporal sales associate. So if you need urgent money or experience, you may find something here.

    Cons

It is a huge company. You may get lost in it. Before starting to work you have to leave your coat on the 9th floor. You can find a huge line of 20 minutes. So, you really have to go early to be on time on your area of the store.
You need to constantly check on your paychecks, some of your hours can just fly away. If your paycheck get lost on the mail, it will take one moth to reissued it again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If a manager ask you to do something out of the system schedule, DO NOT DO IT! They pay you for what the system say you did. If your clock in or clock out do not match your system schedule, they do not pay you for that time. Managers have to send an email to let people from the system to know what happen (you were not late, for example). Some managers will never send the email, so then, you have to straggle to get your working hours back.
Managers do not help you at all.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Everyone is incredibly friendly, and is there for your personal and professional development. Work life balance is encouraged, and there is a lot of vacation time!

    Cons

At the store level, we deal with a lot of frustrations that the corporate level in New York doesn't see, and there isn't a clear channel of communication to get these issues fixed. So, often we become complacent to the frustrations assuming they are just something we have to deal with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communications, make the different arms of the company more in sync with one another, and provide more training for your management teams. provide more support to the in store teams so that you don't keep losing talented people!

I have been working at Macy's

    Pros

I have enjoyed my first 3 days of working so far. I have been selling watches and the mall is not as crowded as expected. Maybe people transitioning to online shopping?

    Cons

Very small incentives for success. I have far exceeded sales goals and signed 4 people up for a new Macy's card (in one day) and received 1 extra dollar, plus some $3 off coupons.
