    Pros

    Cons

Not a very creative environment; many staff members have been there a longtime and like old ways of doing things...can sometimes get in the way of progress.

Bring in new blood with new ideas and give retirement packages out

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great environment, Employee Discount; get your foot in the door, gain experience, then find a better career!

    Cons

Some managers are hard to work for, be prepared to wait for advancement; clean-up after customers.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Your co-workers are usually nice and will cover most schedule changes or revisions for you. Many different positions to be transferred or promoted to within the company.

    Cons

Rotating schedule in addition to excessive hours. Managers are salaried and do not get any overtime compensation or bonus. If you need to change your schedule for a work event, you usually just end up working more hours unless a co-worker will cover for you.

    Advice to Management

Try to make managers schedules more flexible. Most of my managers were decent and professional but a lot of things are out of their hands, especially when it comes to fixing the coverage schedules.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Quick hiring process, close to home, coworkers

    Cons

The pay is terrible, on your feet a lot which I didn't think would be a big deal but it can be draining

    Advice to Management

Actually the managers do want to help although you're quickly thrown to the wolves after 3 days of watching training videos. Some cheesy "rah rah" type managers which is a turnoff. I actually heard one go: woop! Woop! during a morning meeting. Some of the tenured employees are very territorial but usually warm up to you after a while. There is a point system which I'm still trying to figure out. All I know is that points take. Away: bad. Points given: good. And really they just want a body to fill a spot.

Values employee's contribution and let them feel they are part of the process

    Cons

Difficulty in balancing task and customer service

    Advice to Management

Should improve and acknowledge employee contributions
