I have been working at Macy's Systems & Technology full-time

    Pros

-The environment is relaxing and laid back
-Manager not constantly looking over your shoulder, get your work done at your pace as long as it is on time.
-Very nice people, I've been able to build several meaningful relationships
-Recent switch to allow jeans and a nice shirt as dress code, love it
-Summer hours gives you some extra time off over the summer. Get to leave on a half day on certain Fridays in the summer. Decent amount of time off as well.

    Cons

-Hard to move up with the bench process
-The pay could definitely be better
    -The benefits aren't the best
-Depending on the team, lots of down time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer better pay, the company is doing very well. Show that by paying your employees better. Some teams have too much work for what they're staffed while others don't have enough. Needs more balance.

I have been working at Macy's Systems & Technology full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    People here are great.

Benefits and Pay are competitive in the industry.

    Cons

Found myself being bored most of the time rather than stimulated by working on new product features.

Hard to understand business processes when no one is explaining the right work flows.

Change is not something that this company encourages. Lots of old technology with unwillingness to get off it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on helping your QA department understand the Business Processes of the Systems.

Too focused on testing code and writing test plans, but not enough domain knowledge training of the products. This leaves QA confused.

    Pros

    Summer hours. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Pay is average, vacation days given is lower than average, only 6 holidays for the year. Benefits package is a joke.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Increase pay?

I worked at Macy's Systems & Technology as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

It was my first ever professional experience, so I learned an extreme amount of the corporate rules and regulations, as well as AGILE/SCRUM project structure that I had not yet learned at the time in college. I had a mentor that was able to help me out when in need and the daily standup meetings kept everyone on the team up-to-date on the progress of the project.

    Cons

Since I was only there for 10 weeks during the summer, I was thrown into the middle of a project that had already been in progress for months. Therefore, there was an extreme amount of work that I had to do to catch up to the level of knowledge that my colleagues were. This seemed to cause my manager and fellow teammates to give me more busy work that was in their side objectives towards their project, rather than communicating and working with the leads of the project. In that sense, I did not feel that I learned as much as I could have in that short period of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If they had a better structure that they could follow for the interns that come in, it would allow the work to flow more naturally instead of having many stagnant times of little work to be done. Also, the work-life balance was not very good, as it seemed there was a lack of family in the workplace and my colleagues were always trying to leave in a hurry.

    Pros

Scale is enormous, so is the opportunity! Come in with a good attitude and ignore some of the things (basically get out of the glass half full mentality) and you see terrific things. Macys is the premier destination in retail and behind the scenes to make an impact in changing how we serve our customers is enormously gratifying!! Dot.com leadership is just outstanding, from Mike Robinson to his leadership team, it's one of the few places I've see where there's a sincere interest to do the right things and they follow up! I've been here for just about a year and have already seen top notch folks in every area. Great flexibility in terms of work schedules...key is to get things done (and that's not a tall order to ask). I would truly recommend the place to anyone wanting to work for a mature company yet having the benefits of fast pace as a start up!!

    Cons

Sometimes commuting to the city feels a drain...but the passion to come here everyday and make a difference as part of this awesome team drowns any issues

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just keep doing what you have, being ahead of the game, trying to change the dynamics of customer service and true Omni Channel service!! Love Terry and all of the leadership!!
