I worked at Madison Square Garden as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Much room for exploration and freedom of design.

    Cons

The commute was time consuming and the studio was in Terry's house.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider hiring employees who aren't just code savvy.

I have been working at Madison Square Garden

    Pros

You get to meet many exciting people. The company has everything not only sports driven activities so you'll always have something to look forward to.

    Cons

After a while you can be bored. The position is not called internship because it's more hands on but after a while you're doing things supervisors don't want to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be great to have all associates help out on games.

    Good brand, Too many VPs

I worked at Madison Square Garden

    Pros

It's a good brand to have on the resume. Annual raises (small, but better than nothing), education reimbursement, holiday bonus, decent vacation days. Overall good people. Departments care about the people in them.

    Cons

Very corporate, a lot of internal politics. Very hard to get promoted, little structure within departments. A lot of top management fighting for power, leaves more work on the lower levels and more ambiguity. A lot of obstacles to get simple approvals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to improve the organizational structure to include more levels for more room to grow - increase employee moral and decrease employee turnover.

    Pros

Great place to work, good hours, very convenient due to the location.

    Cons

very low pay compare to other companies, No benefits even you work at MSG you don't get anything. (no free tickets)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Madison Square Garden

    Pros

Fans and Guests - Event set ups are interesting and neat- a lot of really great people work at MSG
Plenty of work/life balance cause you won't get enough hours to make your wife/family feel as if you work too much - they help make sure you never will

    Cons

Low pay - severe schedule cuts (1-2-3) days while they hire more people in dept = no benefits. Managers across all depts. play serious favorites game so a lot of really NOT great people get away with really bad actions and behaviors towards coworkers. The people who create the magic at MSG are the most neglected and badly treated workers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sadly unaware of morale and the culture within the event facility
HR: stop making people think they are getting a" foot in the door"

I have been working at Madison Square Garden part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The ability to work with some amazing people. You won't care for the work or management but you'll definitely enjoy your coworkers and some of the guest

    Cons

Clueless management. Seriously they have no clue how to speak to employees or even plan and execute new policies properly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should start a mentorship program to help promote from within. Also communication amongst department must improve. Be pragmatic!! Plan ahead of time!
