I worked at Madison Square Garden as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

My boss(s) were excellent listeners and very interested in my progress and helped me gain internal efficiency.

    Cons

Just a huge organization with complexity to get things accomplished, ( too many cooks)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire your interns and temps. They want to work there and are already trained to "hit the ground running". Keep being kind to your subordinates. It is welcomed and makes one like coming to work there. Continue demanding productivity over weekends as you appreciate it. Your accounting team is excellent there.

I worked at Madison Square Garden as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Large company, lots of learning opportunities

    Cons

Because it's such a large company, it's hard to stand out as an intern.

I have been working at Madison Square Garden as a contractor

    Pros

Great atmosphere, especially for sports fans. Occasional tickets to games.

    Cons

Doesn't seem to be much vertical movement in the company. Not enough full-time work to go around.

I worked at Madison Square Garden part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Having a great company on your resume, pretty good discount on knicks and rangers merchandise, discounted tickets for shows and plays at the garden, pay raise gets higher every season after about 300 hours of working there

    Cons

some managers speak low to their employees, have favorites and usually give them more hours, when you first begin working there you get little hours because it works by seniority, not really a dismissal time you may get out at 3am

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop changing work schedules after they have already been posted and make the worker look like the bad person for not knowing about shift changes (merchandise department)

I worked at Madison Square Garden part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent pay, fun to be at games and events, you get the opportunity to work at different stands in the arena, sometimes the customers tip (avg. $5 a game), flexible scheduling

    Cons

Management isn't helpful, stressful environment and I found it hard to relate to employees. There is no sense of team or group efforts; everyone seems to be there for themselves and want to get out as quick as possible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know employees better on a personal level
