    Pros

Colleagues care about providing quality services. Benefits package, including time off better then many other local companies. Commitment made to creating positive work environment.

    Cons

Downside-recent changes leave staff feeling overworked and stretched thin. Not enough employees to continue to be able to provide high level of customer service.

    Advice to Management

Continue to ask employees for ideas and feedback. Try to understand which programs aren't working and why-and accomplish this as quickly ad possible.

    Pros

Great pay & benefits. Lots & lots & lots of projects to work on, (in IT). If you're in the right group, you can find some extremely talented and collaborative people who'll make your job easier, and push you to do more than you thought you could.

    Cons

CIO isn't a team-builder. He encourages his direct reports to work directly for their goals, irrespective of larger IT goals or collaboration. My VP works differently within his group, but he's definitely the exception as the other VPs & Sr. Directors all pit their own groups against one-another, and certainly don't collaborate outwards.

    Advice to Management

IT doesn't have a cohesive vision for where we're going. Everything feels very reactive and unplanned. There doesn't appear to be any long-term, (1 to 3 years), vision for where we're going, or what new technologies we'll embrace to support the business. Fix that!

    Pros

But low pay of an insurance company. Mission-driven company is nice (people care about this), but the quality of the professionals is a bit lacking overall (probably because of the stingy pay). My experience is that they don't reward good work with promotions in all departments, despite the CEO saying this is his philosophy. Cons are usually outweighed by the unrivaled Paid Time Off that everyone actually uses.

    Cons

    Oops, I included these above.

    Advice to Management

    See above.
