Pros
Never do the same thing two days in a row. I've been give a lot of opportunities to try different things.
Cons
A bit of a roller coaster. One day we're doing great, the next day customers hate us.
Pros
if you are technically good, you will thrive.
Cons
high work pressure as the company is always pushing the technology envelope with fewer resources then its competitors
Pros
Proper recognition
Good salary
OK benefits
Flexible work schedule
Cons
Long-term vision could be better
Pros
Very motivated and inspirational CEO and great people who work very hard at the root level. That is where good things end.
Cons
Very political and no direction senior management. How can you continually lay-off people for around 8 quarters? People cant think of more than a quarter in this company including the CEO and this is very bad.
Advice to Senior Management
Have to learn to be visionaries. Have to think of motivating people to build long term careers at Magma which is fast disappearing.
Pros
Small Organisation, more visibility in some teams
Cons
Long term vision is missing.
Advice to Senior Management
Please keep communication flow open from US to India.
Pros
you can learn more advance technical knowedge
Cons
working place is not good
Advice to Senior Management
no commend
Pros
Its probably good for EDA folks.
Cons
Not a good place for IT / SAP/ IS folks.
Advice to Senior Management
Give credit to managers that make things happen.
Not managers-of-mangers, who had no knowledge
of how the project happened other than the status of the project.
Pros
Acts like a startup, innovative
Cons
Is not a startup, growth limited by opportunistic and short sighted mgmt behavior.
Pros
The work can be technically challenging, interesting and well-varied. Some extremely smart and talented people to work with. Some cutting edge (for their time) concepts in EDA.
Cons
The company executives often drink their own kool-aid instead of focusing on the reality of the competitive EDA landscape. Company often does not respect your personal time - difficult to get vacation time or work a realistic schedule. When layoffs are looming, they most likely have already selected people to lay off (if you've been there less than a few years - watch out!), but can still make an effort to make it look like those individuals are not performing (for easier termination) by piling on additional work & pulling in due dates so that it's impossible to succeed.
Advice to Senior Management
Please be transparent! If the company is targeting solid-performing people for layoffs, don't lead them on, burn them out or make it look like it's all their fault. Don't repeatedly invest in low profit margin technology areas that consume huge development resources and instead focus on strengthening the company's core technologies and quality. Executives need to tone down the rhetoric.
Pros
It has very good technology and probably is the only EDA company where you will have opp to learn entire flow from RTL-GDSII and become an expert. Lot of oppurtunities to learn and excel at new technologies
Cons
Worst work-life balance with avg pay. Mgmt forgets that you have life and 70hrs workweek is very common ...with immature mgmt and inexperienced folks sitting at top levels , decision making is very skewed and talented employees are rewarded very well. Very artificial praises is the best you can get from mgmt ..with top brass so political and often trying to save their jobs, your credit is taken as theirs...
Advice to Senior Management
with just 600 ppl, please try to encourage non-political free culture and reward your employees well especially support staff...they substitute your tools instability and features...promote only ppl who have experience and maturity ... also if a product is not catching up, please change the R&D architects and you need fresh eyes...
