Advice to Senior Management
More promotion to people to lead new plants
Pros
Good compensation and reward for a job well done. Though it comes with an equal amount of stress to boot.
Cons
Long hours during product launch with no direct compensation, so reward is hopefully through a recognized bonus for putting in time during launch.
Advice to Senior Management
Actually, management is not too bad. They recognize high achievers and conversely, call out those who aren't pulling their weight. A bit more recognition for going above and beyond one's duties could be called for, I suppose.
Pros
Opportunities are given to all levels of employees and team members to strive to do better for themselves and to support the company.
Cons
Typical challenges are present of a company that is founded in North America and trying to get skilled/competent staff to support growing operations worldwide.
Advice to Senior Management
Making timely decisions is the key to supporting profitable divisions and to addressing those which are underpreforming. Strong leadership and execution should be recognized and nurtured.
Pros
Competitive salary, Work-life balance, Diversity
Cons
Limited career growth opportunities, Don't appreciate higher education
Advice to Senior Management
Most of the managers have come up from tool making/manufacturing background - need educated (MBA etc.) management
Pros
Co-Workers were family
Close to home
Cons
Management changed to many times
New managers didn't know what you did - but would appraise you anyway???
Lack of communiction on job functions when manager changed.
Advice to Senior Management
Train your managers in HRM!!!
Pros

Cons
this JV with the management by local person , almost go out of Magma management system
Advice to Senior Management
help and support to manage the JV based on Magna procedure and culture , only focus on the benifit, no long term development in China area. ( loss reputation )
Pros
The skills and knowledge you can get working for this company is great
The way that the people is involved in the business becomes all the employees very proactive
Is a company where the challenges and expectations are very high so the people have to evolve well if they want to grow
Cons
Not all the people who is on the top positions have the skills to manage a business like this is
Seems some managers in Mexico have a very poor vision about what a world class plant means to make a successful business
The lack of communication gives poor results to everyone
Don't make that the key personal grow internally makes the talent goes away of the company
Don't have a strategic plan for the business makes all the manager departments go to anywhere, that without mentioning the rest of the people
Lack of high business performance knowledge makes to redirect every time and waste time on bad decision
If the lack of preparation of the employees could be a problem, maintain that issue could be worst instead educate the people for the targets of the business looking for a world class business position
No having a plan to pay the people by a good evaluation of results and skills makes the people leave the job without a well performing and good elements could go away
Advice to Senior Management
Some key words to follow and use
Humility
Honesty
Encouraging
Generous
Proactive
Pros
The company has a long track record of being successful. Managment expects top notch performance and they are willing to pay for it. They are not afraid to cut the dead wood.
Cons
Management very focused on short term. Also, all divisions of the company are considered independent which causes intercompany competition sometimes to the same customer for the same product which costs the company significant amounts of money.
Advice to Senior Management
Take advantage of the economies of scale that such a huge company offers. Make it easier for groups and divisions to spend money to improve performance. Think long term. Give more support and advice from a corporate standpoint rather than letting divisional management determine what the best course of action is.
Pros
Good benefits use to be better. Mid to lwr management are fair to work with. flexible with time off and family time
Cons
No room for advancement. Removal of some nice benefits. Upper management needs to look at talent that is around them before making cuts. Direct employement will not stop a possible layoff
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to look at what talent they have within the company. Opportunities for advancement. Imporve communication between the divisions
Pros
Magna is definitely a good global company to work for. The opportunity to network is very good and you meet people all around the world.
Cons
The worst part about Magna is that there are a lot of politics involved. There seems to be endless battles that can't be won.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employers more. What's the point of having numerous meetings and having people make suggestions if at the end you already had your mind made up.
