    Pros

Magna is a large company with excellent benefits. There are a lot of opportunities for vertical and lateral growth.

    Cons

The downsides will be determined by the individual plant. Coming from a brand new facility, there are a lot of basic things that still need to be done. Also, the lack of global systems and coordinated efforts between the plants is quite surprising.

    Advice to Management

Define milestones and track the progress of salaried individuals. There are too many salary employees that are over paid and do not achieve anything noteworthy. I believe this is the fault of management by not clearly defining their expectations and deadlines.

    Pros

Bottom line focused company across all business units. Decentralized philosophy. Great benefits , including profit sharing.

    Cons

No promotion structure in place for sales and engineering. No mechanism in place for measuring success. Constantly feel like your head is on the chopping block.

    Advice to Management

Create a bonus structure around realistic targets. Recognize wins at all levels. Make travel plans easier on the employee who is being asked to travel!

    Pros

    Good salary, raises and benefits

    Cons

lots of favoritism, not enough supervision presence on the floor. No life allowed a life anymore, way to much overtime. Cant make plans, because you will more than likely be working.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone the same, if I cant have my phone out, so and so cant have his phone out either. Don't walk by and pretend you didn't see it. We see what's happening and you not doing anything about it. That makes for bad MORALE. Rules are rules, enforce them equally. Also, get your engineers out on the floor to help your operators. They aren't doing us any good at their desks.

They work you like a dog. The money is ok, but don't expect to have a family.

    Cons

Expected to work overtime...50-60 hours a week.

    Pros

There is potential for Magna Spartanburg to be a successful and enjoyable place to work if it was better managed. There are people at the facility that have the mentality and desire to make the facility successful.

    Cons

The plant is operated completely by "fire-fighting". With some discipline, procedures and expectations, the plant could be a good place to work and they could be profitable. The management of the plant leads by intimidation and has no patience to develop associates. Very little direction and training is given. The biggest con is the lack of safety practices. The number of recordable incidents is the highest I have seen anywhere by 10-fold.

    Advice to Management

The management should prioritize and share with everyone the overall plan for success. Working to develop the current workforce would help the employees be successful and in turn the company successful. By intimidating and constantly badgering associates, the workforce is going to continue to turnover excessively.

    Pros

Co workers, company growth, benefits, stuition reimbursement, shift hours, 401k company 3% match of first 6%

    Cons

Supervision inconsistencies, HR inconsistencies, preferential treatment when it comes to training and advancement opportunities, 7 day work weeks, no time for family, ot rotation not followed, inadequate supervisors, unapproachable supervisors (some) child behavior is tolerated too often, lack of pay and 1 raise a year. No consideration given for past experience, all starting pay is non negotiable.

    Advice to Management

Overhaul mgmt and hr. Keep the few good ones snd rebuild with new blood. Weed out those who dont take the job seriously. Pay your employees better, consider past experience, give shift premiums for off shift, double time for Sundays, and for heavens sakes if you pay double time for mothers day dont not do the same for father's day! Otherwize just dont do it at all. Things like this lower morale even lower if possible than it already is.
