I worked at Magna International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

When the economy is good, the atmosphere is energetic and such an amazing place to work. Unfortunately, when there is a downturn, the morale is often horrible.

    Cons

Difficult to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make an effort to provide opportunities for advancement for the operators in plants, and for junior employees with high potential.

I worked at Magna International full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Certain managers are on point and great to work for.

    Cons

Failure to disclose policies, I was totally disrespected by EHS in front of the HR manager when there is supposed to be a policy on respect, and lack of trust with management. The office has numerous cameras and with the uniforms, it has a prison like atmosphere. You can make the building look great with state of the art equipment and offices, but without the right people running it, I'd rather work in the middle of a garbage dump full of good people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are not leaving because of the policies. People have been looking and starting to leave because of how the "respect' policy is not being observed. Overhaul the entire HR department with fresh employees and a new manager and that should go a long way to improve employee moral as well. Eliminate all the employee monitoring.

I worked at Magna International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has long reach in Canada, Europe and also Asia. Career wise it's allowing exciting assignments, movements or reassignments in other part of the world. Remuneration is fair and bonus endless when performing. Great profit sharing and overall employee support. As long you are performing, the sky is the limit.

    Cons

You can be dismissed quickly if not performing in your role and bring profits together with great ebitda. You cannot spend long time in restructuring a money losing department. You must turn it quick to profit if you want to stay around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Often the office culture is creating suspicion and competition between same unit employees, rather than Team spirit and common goal oriented community.

I have been working at Magna International full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Recent growth and globalization are creating more opportunities for job growth. Strong intern program

    Cons

Tenured employ salaries fall short of peer salaries at other companies. Leadership development though a corporate objective is lacking here. Difficult to take time off, or work less than 60+ hours per week. Sr. Management is not approachable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please communicate with, and trust your mid-level managers to make decisions, and support them if/when they make mistakes. Provide your people with the resources needed to eliminate burnout, and stoke productivity.

I have been working at Magna International full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fast pace dont work the whole year if you permanent, great benefits, great shifts, got to be hired on first.

    Cons

Once you prove yourself as being a hard worker and love to be part of the team. Wait for about 1yr to 3yrs making about $10.00 to $10.50 before you get hired on. Third shift outside paint supervisor do even know his own job. to much negativity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a Team, there shouldn't be any supervisors coming in with a bad attitude. please pay attention to all 3 shifts, there is a lot of favoritism, no leadership.

I have been working at Magna International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I have been given great opportunities since I started here 3 years ago, have learnt a lot of new skills. The company are really focussed on providing training for employees who have the potential to make a difference and are always looking to the future.

    Cons

Management are not always good leaders and often can make rash decisions under pressure, temporary labour through recruitment agencies don't always have the same interests as the companies full time employees and are willing to let the company fail, but the company don't see this and keep those individuals within a job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

EOS is not the best way to find out what your employees think about you as a company, getting on the shop floor and talking to the staff to find out what we are thinking can sometimes go a long way.
