    Pros

Interesting, trip to Italy for training, aggressive company with high ambition

    Cons

Never really on the inside, focus on Hydraulics things that should be done with electronics...s.

    Advice to Management

Treat American Employees better... focus on electrical solutions despite most of Magneti Marelli's expertise being in Hydraulics. Be more honest with your customer OEMs.

    Pros

World Class Manufacturing system (Fiat Production System) is a structured approach to improving profitability by involving everyone in projects. It is an excellent system with tremendous potential to increase profitability.

    Cons

A general Clarity of Objectives is missing from everyone overall. Seems to be a lack of cohesion and the upper management doesnt know what to do and cant quickly lead others towards one common goal. Example, not using the WCM with the PLM systems together to run the business. instead everyone is going different ways from their own daily firefighting. In particular, R&D is disconnected from the business system and needs to get more involved in the projects in the Plant using the tools.

    Advice to Management

Keep aligning the organization towards improvement with more and more competent people step by step using the WCM and PLM systems together by promoting more from within and rewarding them better. Do something more to get R&D involved in the business system using WPI (Work Place Integration) and WCE (World Class Engineering). Open your Eyes. You are going too slow. Time is money.

    Pros

I've worked for Magneti Marelli for over 3 years. While it can be stressful sometimes (like any other job) it is great most times. They do a lot of nice events for their employees and for the community.

    Cons

Too much control from Italy, MM would be much more successful if Italy backed off and let the U.S. Team run the U.S. Part of the company.

    Advice to Management

Have Italy back off a bit and let us do our jobs. There is a reason they hired the people they hired: we are experts in what we do. Don't interfere so much and have some faith that we won't mess things up.

    Cons

Too much luxury idea, hard to implement

    Pros

Very diverse population. Good benefits and flexible attendance.

    Cons

Absolutely no training, no policies to follow, Italian business culture does not respect employees and doesn't care to learn how to do business appropriately in America. No pay increases, poor management review process. Upper Italian management forces you to lie to customers and then expects you like your job. No growth opportunity.

    Advice to Management

trust your staff to do their jobs. Spend the time & effort training staff and giving them room to grow rather then stifling them. Treat employees with respect, show them you value them. Fiat needs to support Magneti more with better software and policies or this company will continue to struggle.

    Pros

Great place for Growth & Challenge; You'll be involved in a lot of projects with high expectations. However, you will not be appreciated for what you accomplish.

    Cons

NO raises given at this site since the Italians took over. That's 7 years folks! When they finally implemented a "Merit" program they rated everyone low enough so you still wouldn't qualify for a raise! I was out of there two months later.

    Advice to Management

FIAT, you are tanking in the US, go ahead and sell this division to someone who understands US business culture and cares about their employees and company growth.

    Pros

The following kept me around: salary, title, successful company.

    Cons

Not a lot of cons: upper level micromanagers

    Advice to Management

Language barrier sometimes hindered communication; let the directors and plant managers do their job without micromanaging their actions and decisions.

    Pros

Real sense of teamwork when it's "crunch time." Real sense of family in some departments. New issues are always popping up, it keeps the work fresh and interesting.

    Cons

Feels like management is rather shortsighted. Poor life/work balance. Poor communication throughout leads to wasted time and efforts.

    Advice to Management

Poor communication within and with all departments leads to lots of downtime and wasted efforts.
