    The best first workplace

    Intern (Former Employee)

ProsIt was my first workplace after university, and it taught me a lot about company culture and teamwork. I really liked that people appreciate you and give you feedback about your work, so to sum it up: I managed to learn many things, and improved in lots of areas, while working in an incentive environment.

ConsI worked in a stagnating department, where it was very hard to improve figures. At first I thought I would be able to bring new ideas into the department, but we could not use most them because of strict legislation in the industry.

    Telekom internship

    IT Tester (Former Employee)
    Budapest (Hungary)

ProsBig international company with great opportunities. There are so many sections to choose from it's easy to start your career at the Telekom.

ConsToo big and you have to be pushing too much to get a promotion. The salaries are OK, but if you want to big you either need good connections in the company itself or should search for another one.

    Bad trainee programme

    Trainee (Former Employee)
    Budapest (Hungary)

ProsThe name of the company in your CV looks great

ConsThe salary is a joke and the different teams don't think that you are part of them. The company uses the trainees to spare money on full time employees...

Advice to Senior ManagementHigher salary and 30-40 hrs work option

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

One of the most complex business organizations in the region, eroding away.

Senior Social Media Manager (Former Employee)
    Budapest (Hungary)

ProsDecent salary, great perks, lots to learn in central functions, room to grow and plenty of resources and opportunities to make things happen (if you're into it).
Depending on the branch and function you can also get some valuable international experience as well via Deutsche Telekom.

ConsHuge legacy systems, overly complicated & slow bureaucracy, committee decisions, siloes & infighting.
Comfort and complacency are prevalent; with huge external pressure on the business there is a lot of effort going into shaking up things internally, which causes anxiety in all tiers of management. This leads to bad decisions, mixed messages, hurried execution.

Advice to Senior ManagementRefresh key functions with fresh talent or face obsolescence.

    ProsGood working atmosphere, kind collegaues

ConsA lack of oportunities for cross-country carreer development

Advice to Senior ManagementProcess optimization should be a bigger concern

    Working at Magyar Telekom

    Software Tester (Former Employee)
    Budapest (Hungary)

ProsNice working place and salary is reasonable. Benefits are really good (ie. company spa resort facility almost for free). Most of the collegues are friendly and helpful, ideal for a new grad to start a career here. Also, there is good internship program.

ConsLots of politics involved in decision making (I guess same as everywhere else).

Advice to Senior ManagementHave the ball to actually say what is happening to the company/projects and don't sugarcoat it and make it sound like everything is great.

    Budapest (Hungary)

    Prosgood fringe benefits
talking in networks 0630 and 061 gratis
good reference finding job in the future
work in different teams with different people

    Consslow processes
moving to different headquarters and offices
huge gap between the old "Matav" and old "T-Mobile" employees
unacceptable incompetency of the HR department
    mess

Advice to Senior Managementthink less, do not reorganize the departments yearly or half yearly, more professionism!!!!

    Surviving constant change

    Marketing Communications (Former Employee)
    Budapest (Hungary)

ProsLarge company with rules so one always knows what is expected of them
Possibility to work in larger teams
    Plenty of opporutnities for everyone

ConsConstant changes - company was restructured every two years
To much office politics, took a lot of time away from real work
The changes brind a lot of uncertainty, managers never knew what would and what would not work.

Advice to Senior ManagementThink less about the structure of the company and let employees work/excel more ...
