Los Angeles, CA

Former Employee – worked at Malbon Brothers Farms full-time for more than a year

ProsI got a lot out of working at BON in the early phases. It's a small company so one person has to wear a lot of hats - you may be asked to do creative work and also manage calendars and budgets at the same time, working with a small group of people with a quick turnaround and small budget. It's a big challenge with a fast learning curve - you must quickly adapt to a high-stress environment and learn to navigate the snarls of a political system where status and favorites are rewarded over hard work and merits. You develop a hard shell, quickly, and in Hollywood can be a good thing. Also, the people I worked with in the trenches were great. You may meet a lot of bright, young, hardworking folks like yourself - just don't expect them to stick around too long.

ConsEmployees are not valued at this company. There is a high turnover among contract workers, and salaried workers are also regarded as disposable goods. It may be a good place to cut your teeth, but have an exit strategy ready. The attitude of upper management towards its employees is so indifferent that it's depressing. There is no spirit of camaraderie, no kind words, no general feeling appreciation at all from the partners. General morale is very low. They only have one client that floats the business, which in itself is a dangerously short-sited folly. This one client has learned to wield its power such that management cannot even dictate internal decisions or structures without the client's approval. The result is an extremely unhealthy environment where fear drives decision making and real creativity is stifled at every corner. It's a sad mess.

Advice to Senior ManagementCultivate an environment where your employees want to work! If you're nice to them and reward them they'll work a lot harder for you. Build a company of employees who are loyal and ready to work with you for a long time. And hire some women. Like bro city over there.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
