    Cons

Individuals may become overly involved with inmate population which may lead to unprofessionalism and a lack of ethical and moral character.

    Advice to Management

Become more detailed and selective in selecting individuals for management and supervisory positions.

    Pros

It feels good to provide dental care to inmates, many of whom had little dental care in their lives.

    Cons

Administration, like wardens and MTC executives, allow other medical and dental personnel with whom they become friendly to cause havoc in the clinics. There is no due process for the affected individuals or any consequences for the offenders who are usually unproductive and resent those who are. Advice to job seekers: stay away if you are competent and serious about doing your job.

    Advice to Management

"If it AIN'T broken, don't fix it; if it is broken, FIX it". Don't wait for the State of Arizona to take over the prison like the feds did to you in Texas.

    Pros

Some good Training and business trips for Department of Labor.

    Cons

Clickquish. No real due process afforded employees.

    Advice to Management

Do not be in a hurry to rid good employees without due process.... many of your policies are handled by a clicque and not level headed people.

    Pros

Help students receive education. Great coworkers. Job Corps is one of the best kept secrets of federal government funding!

    Cons

Focus on performance and number of students enrolled in the program often overshadow the good things that are happening. Lots of paperwork. MTC programs often add a lot of additional work which doesn't always translate to improved outcomes

    Advice to Management

Corporate shouldn't mandate all programs and take center size into consideration

    Pros

    Pays good. Overtime available everyday.

    Cons

Benefits suck. PTO is ridiculous, to be specific 4 hours/month(no sick days). Officers are overworked due to lack of staff sometimes working 30 hours OT. You have to constantly check your paycheck because sometimes they short you and it can take a while if ever to get it.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and show some true appreciation for your employees. Provide better PTO or atleast be reasonable/realistic .Offer continuing education, developmental training, encourage staff and support their education.

    Pros

The values and beliefs of this organization are awe inspiring. They truly make you feel as though you can make a difference in people's lives, be them students or inmates. I had the pleasure of working at Gadsden Correctional Facility, where we were embarking on a mission to become a more gender responsive facility which not only allowed us to be more B.I.O.N.I.C, but it provided us an opportunity to be trailblazers in the field of women's corrections. My first two years with the company were amazing. In a time when companies were being forced to be reactive, this organization was being proactive in a major way. Well as the old saying goes, "All good things must come to an end". Around September 2013 there was a change in leadership and the environment drastically changed. Where there used to be high expectations for success, hope and inspiration for all, and a genuine sense of appreciation and worth there was now shallow, self-centered, and quasi-pointless goals. The feeling of hope and accomplishment was gone and this was felt throughout the facility; from the management team to the inmates and all in between. What I used to admire about the organization was its values and its pro-activeness, but what I ended up with was a feeling like they were just like the rest. They too were an organization who failed to recognize their mistakes until it was too late, an organization who allowed people to stay in positions well beyond their usefulness, and one who was plagued by a lack of due diligence.

I had high hopes for my time spent at this facility, but my expectations were overwhelmingly disappointed. This was by far one of the best and worst work experiences of my entire career.

    Cons

    Lack of accountability
Focus on the show and not the details
Extreme disconnect from the corporate office and facilities
Lack of effective training in management positions
Lack of ownership for mistakes in upper management
Little recourse for wrongdoing by upper management

    Advice to Management

Examine the details. Don't let the pomp and circumstance fool you into thinking things are on good footing. Even if you believe things are successful, it could be imploding right in front of your eyes if you continue to focus on only a piece of the picture.

    Pros

Coworkers are nice but not very smart.

    Cons

Disrespectful, pay is not competitive, unqualified management

    Advice to Management

Get adequate funding or leave the business
