Sometimes challenging, but overall a good place to work.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Winnipeg, MB (Canada)

ProsGood pay, benefits, etc. Their community involvement is really outstanding. They do give their employees perks, especially when the employees step up to the plate and volunteer for them outside of work time.

ConsPeople are given jobs internally based off an interview rather than an assessment of your contributions and ability demonstrated in your current position.

Advice to Senior ManagementPrevious work ethic / ability really should play more of a role in candidate selection. There a lot of people out there who can talk the talk, but not necessarily walk the walk. Also, there are a lot of people that simply freeze up in interview situations who would perform the role exceptionally. If you know your employee is exceptional, perhaps you should reward that rather than passing them up for job promotions continually because they couldn't cut it in an interview situation.

ProsGreat People, Great Corporation, excellent wages and benfits

ConsSome Senior Management not cooperative with other departments

Advice to Senior ManagementStart building bridges from department to department. Integration is the only way to achieve a higher standard i.e Food and Beverage and other departments

    unhappy union environment

Casino Dealer (Former Employee) Winnipeg, MB (Canada)

Proswage is decent, good shift flexibility as a casual employee

Conspoor communication from managers, very little employee development

Advice to Senior Managementseniority should not be the only factor in determining promotions to supervisory and managerial positions. Much more emphasis should be placed on developing front line managers.

Way to many bosses with friends.

    Attendant (Current Employee)

ProsNot a bad wage or benefits, Two weeks holidays after one year full time, Can not gamble in manitoba,no slot machines.

ConsThe favouritism is so bad in the casinos,if you are not liked by the management team your job can be made very very difficult by some managers supervisors inspectors, the people in the jackets,If you make mistakes everyone knows, if you do a good job it is not noticed. People in the jackets are allowed breaks when every, and as long as they like. They can start work late and take a break ten minutes into there shifts.some even get to do their school work and get paid .Sure you get holiday time but it is very hard to get time off at prime time summer and winter holidays, the departments are so big and only one employee at a time so the people that have been there for years get that time with their children. manitoba lotteries makes them self look very good on the outside but really this is a very mean company.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease fix what needs to be fixed. Quit sweeping important issues under the carpet .Smile at your employees regardless which department their in.

Prosbenefits and salary are fair and competitive (but does that make it worth working there?); some very good employees to work with; good community spirit

Consput down in front of co-workers and other departments; things thrown at me; my work called s**t; told never to talk with or contact anyone above my position; very tough place to work; high turnover rate; never arrive after or leave before the boss; pray you are liked or else; micro managed to death; bullied to death

Not to bad a place to work as long you are liked

Technical Information Systems Technician II (Current Employee) Winnipeg, MB (Canada)

ProsCompensation & Benefits compared to the Public sector.

ConsThere is a lot of favoritism within the corporation. Very hard to get promoted unless you are liked by Management. Management runs the corporation like a government not like a business like it is suppose to be (Government run Casino)

Advice to Senior ManagementRun the corporation like a business like it is - a casino
