I have been working at Manitou Americas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Gehl overall is a great place to work with great people. The West Bend office is a relatively small corporate headquarters, but is full of the right talented people.

    Cons

Gehl is a smaller company, which could be a con for some. In addition, sometimes it can be challenging communicating with the French parent due to the time zone difference.

    Not worth your time.

    I worked at Manitou Americas

    Pros

Near competitive pay. Good use of technology. Nice facilities. Generally nice people to get along with.

    Cons

They will screw you on vacation/paid time off. Nickel and dime you for every hour you're not there. Too much "old school" mentality. Too many old Gehl employees complaining about how Manitou is screwing the company. Too much of the "we've always done it this way" attitude. No new hire training. You're left to figure things out on your own. No policies/work instructions are updated or in writing at all. You have to fend for yourself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get over the Manitou acquisition and start working to move the company forward instead of bragging how you're so great and Europe is crap.

I have been working at Manitou Americas

    Pros

Lots of potential to be a big company. The company is slowly grabbing market share, and the buy out by Manitou appears to be a step in the right direction. Management is conservative, but does know where to put the focus in tough times. The town is also a very nice place to live.

    Cons

There are lots of "friends from old jobs" being brought in. Tends to be lots of favoritism towards those people. The company is conservative to a point that sometimes it becomes hard to get the job done affectively and in a timely manner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Things are looking very tough due to the economy, and the process of trying to weather the storm appears to be very thought out and executed very well to this point.
