    Pros

    Flexible management Good learning experience They attempt to teach you as much about the business as possible

    Cons

    The work was a little bit monotonous, but that was just my opinion.

    Pros

    Great benefits. There are opportunities to learn, but that is no different than anywhere else. The facilities and equipment is up to date.

    Cons

    Extremely top heavy! Employees are sacrificed to protect upper management. Management is petty and driven to maintain 6 and 7 figure salaries. The management that feels guilty about the situation are afraid to say anything for fear of losing their own jackpot.

    Advice to Management

    Take one percent of your own compensation and distribute it to the rest of the employees. One percent of millions would go a very long way. I would also let them know that most people with the firm are aware of the situation but can not do anything about it. Two-thirds of the firm are loyal and hard working and greatly underpaid.

    Pros

    The investment style there is very solid, and a great place to get licensed and learn the ropes. Work-life balance is very good, as most of the people are gone from the office by 5pm daily.

    Cons

    The compensation is very low, unless you are one of the people that started the company. The disparity between upper management's pay and those who work for them is large. The Board is extremely conservative and makes it very difficult to pass initiatives for growth (new systems, etc).

    Advice to Management

    I believe if you made the employees feel more validated by increasing pay, you'd have better retention. You have a great deal of very smart and energetic folks there who actually enjoy working hard, but your compensation deflates the enthusiasm.

    Pros

    The company offers a positive environment for individuals to take on as much responsibility as they require. Most decisions are made by upper-management, but there is no limit to express your opinions or investment ideas. I found the culture to be rather demanding while at work, but everyone to be friendly if you needed to ask questions or were looking for advice.

    Cons

    Location - Rochester area. Also, although you work in groups - very rarely do you feel as though you are collaborating on research projects.

    Good job. A bit more guidance for young professionals would also be beneficial.

    Pros

    Manning & Napier is a financially strong company.

    Cons

    The downsides of the company is supervisors who treat Micromanagement as an answer to increase productivity.

    Advice to Management

    Increase productivity by encouraging employees to be an active part of M&N's success.
