More opportunities for career and personal development than you'd expect. Lots of knowledgeable and talented people

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsA surprisingly broad and deep range of solutions delivered to clients, with new ones being designed all the time also there are several brands, 80+ countries, so lots of potential to develop - I started work in one sector, then switched to another and then moved continent for three years.
Senior management open to approach and are investing in enabling customer facing staff.

ConsLarge organisation so pay structures etc are quite rigid, but there are various incentive schemes etc.
Service industry so there's often reactive demands

Advice to Senior ManagementPro-active career planning from the organisation at an international level would be ideal - but obviously not easy!
In the UK the market perception of the brand sometimes holds the company back - many potential clients aren't aware of the scale and scope of solutions that are already beoing delivered

    Great People

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWorking with the Manpower People has always been fantastic and still is. Even through difficult times people are listened to and tough actions taken.

Conswith great people comes plenty of goodwill, sometimes this can be taken for granted, bringing new people in on what is said to be market rate salaries / benefits can devalue that goodwill, why not focus on existing people with renumeration

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep listening to your people and trust them, allow people to be creative and not be too focused on ticking box's and hitting targets, creativity and trust will do that anyway

Good job, lots of opportunity to make a difference

Operations Manager (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

Pros-My reporting line was really good all the way up to board members - it was a very supportive environment and people were approachable.
-I felt like my inputs were valued and ideas and suggestions for improvements/changes were possible and even encouraged.
-Really nice company and co-workers, and a lot less aggressive and intense than other recruitment agencies I've worked for and never got bombarded by emails out of hours and at weekends which was so refreshing
-No other company I've worked for has done automatic annual salary increases and they did take steps to address widespread employee dissatisfaction regarding holiday and flexible benefits

Cons-holiday and flexible benefits were addressed this year but still pretty poor compared to competitors
-cost is always a consideration, so teams were lean, however never had a justifiable request to recruit declined and able to ramp up quickly using temp workforce to support during busy times

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Very supportive company and great colleagues

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsDuring my career with Manpower I have changed my role several times, giving me great development. The company has supported me through having and raising my family, providing flexibility and excellent benefits and the people I work with are second to none - helpful, friendly, dedicated and empathic

ConsIt can be a bit of a battle to try to get market rate wages or even the same wages as new starters.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you have to pay market rate to get a new starter, why not pay your existing staff market rate and keep them.

Great Company with Great People that are Forward Thinking

Business Manager (Current Employee) Bridgend, Wales (UK)

ProsGreat company to work for who are constantly looking for ways to improve business, develop staff and help client's and candidates succeed.Very supportive with work-life balance and excellent training and development opportunities if you show you want to grow.

ConsMore career development available for people willing to relocate or for people who can spend time away from home on a regular basis

No reward for loyalty - what does it take to get promoted?

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsLots of opportunities to be challenged
    Working in recruitment is rewarding
The business continues to grow and develop
Most people in leadership are good

    ConsNo structured career path
Progression is usually about who you know
You only know youve got a manager when there is a problem
The wage pot tends to get wasted on new people that add little to no value and then they get managed out or leave - if you stay prepare to be underpaid or fight hard for a rise.

Advice to Senior ManagementDont underestimate the cost of attrition, managers at all levels should be accountable.
Please invest more in progressing from within, this has happened less and less over the years and now almost never happens in many business areas. Before you hire non-entry level people externally ask if someone could do this internally with or without coaching.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
