I have been working at Mansfield Oil full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company is an excellent place to learn about the oil and gas industry, especially if you are interested in the downstream part of the business. There truly is no limit to what you can do or where you can go in this company, so long as you are ready and willing to put in the time and effort to become an expert in your field. The CEO is world class and is constantly concerned with improving and growing his business. As a sign of his commitment to improvement and transparency, he encourages his employees to get on sites like glassdoor.com and speak their minds about what Mansfield is and how it can improve. Good or bad, he wants to hear the truth. My favorite part of working at Mansfield is the people. There's a sense of teamwork and interdependence throughout the entire organization that makes the culture here very special.

    Cons

The company has grown at such a fast pace that some areas of the business are in need of "catching up" with the rest. There are currently enterprise-wide initiatives underway to do exactly that. Some people are not willing to accept the level of work and committment that Mansfield requires. Let it be known: this is not the place for someone who is just wanting to "collect a paycheck". The upside of that is that every day is interesting and goes by quickly.

    Advice to Management

The frequency and quality of communication with your teams needs to be increased and improved if we are going to move into the next level of high-performing organizations. With so much high-level strategizing going on, you must do a better job of making sure the rest of the company doesn't feel left behind because of a lack of understanding of what's going on around them.

I have been working at Mansfield Oil full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is always growing, so there are a lot of new opportunities for employees. If you're in Operations, your day is almost never the same, so it's hard to get bored. The company is an industry leader and changes with the industry, so there are always new things to learn and add to your resume. The leadership is driven and creative. There are some really intelligent and committed employees.

    Cons

Work-life balance is not valued. If you are focused and diligent enough to get your work done between the hours of 8a and 5p, you may still be viewed negatively for not staying late. It is expected that even if you are on vacation, you should still be up to date on your emails and handle any emergencies, so unless you leave the country and have no access to phone or internet, it can feel like you never truly get a chance to disconnect. Also, the rapid growth that the company has experienced has led to a lot of growing pains. There are definitely some dysfunctional departments within the company that you may have to work with, but it will feel more like you are working against them to get things done.

    Advice to Management

Continue to grow and move with the industry. Change the company culture to reflect the fact that if work-life balance is important. Otherwise, your best and most committed employees will burn out (many have) and leave.

    Pros

Opportunity for growth within the organization. Extremely innovative and experienced executive team who demonstrate a very open door/approachable attitude.

    Cons

A very face paced, high pressure environment that may not be for everyone. With great opportunity comes high expectations, hard work, and sometimes long hours. A strong work ethic is a must have for success with Mansfield.

    Advice to Management

Continue to recognize imbalances of workload and allow department growth to align with increased workloads and responsibilities.
