    Pros

Coworkers made the job enjoyable. Good work life balance. Lenient and supportive policies for writing actuarial exams (days off, increase in pay, etc.)

    Cons

Some employees, like in all workplaces, were challenging to work with. High amount of bureaucracy. Departments can often feel siloed.

    Pros

Work life balance. Enthusiastic, cheery coworkers, training opportunities even for coops and chances to see work done across your business function and encouragement to try different roles. Great co-op compensation for a smaller BA role.

    Cons

Restructuring woes. People being moved around and the ensuing chaos. Outsourcing several jobs offshore to "lean" the balance sheet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the commitment gown to interns and people will continue coming back after graduation.

I have been working at Manulife Financial full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Company is very involved in community volunteering and offers employees time and transportation during work hours to participate.

Co-workers are intelligent and pleasant to work with. The majority of workers care about the work they are doing.

    Cons

Individual managers can make or break an employees work experience. The most qualified for advancement are not always chosen because they do not know the "right" people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to recreate programs and processes that were developed at the corporate level. You are not making it better, you are making it more confusing for the workers in your division.
