    I worked at Manulife Financial

    Pros

Some ability to work from home if management permits it

Some managers do actually care about their staff, but they are few and far between

    Cons

Salaries are lower than comparable companies in the area

Focus is on politics between departments, not in how to work together

Emphasis is on how to not spend money which leads to staff not having the tools they need to do their jobs

For an insurance company, the benefits are barely acceptable

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please review the "Peter Principle" and stop putting people into roles that they are not suited for

Listen to the staff when they have complaints

    I worked at Manulife Financial

    Pros

There is a good benefits package available to hired employees. You are given a great stock option, which i believe is about 5% of your paycheck. Also, you're given 2% of your paycheck which goes towards mutual funds of your choice. The company does allow promotions from within and actively searches for it.

    Cons

I found that there are very strict rules to working within the financial industry, which i personally couldnt live with. My position was a low one, however the rules were enforced heavily upon me and my peers. Strict punctuality was enforced, and good numbers were no excuses for lateness. I found it very stressful working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Ease up on your employees.
