I worked at Marble Slab full-time

    Pros

I enjoyed being able to serve my customers a fun experience, with a delicious product.

    Cons

Franchise fees, silly franchise regulations, way too many emails,

I worked at Marble Slab part-time for less than a year

    Pros

It helped me learn what it was like in the customer service part of the job world. The family atmosphere was nice and helped move things quicker. It's very fast paced so don't plan on standing there.

    Cons

The manager had favorites and if you weren't one of them then your job became much more difficult than it should have been.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because some of your employees go to church on Sundays doesn't make them any better than the ones that don't.

I worked at Marble Slab part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The pay at Marble Slab was decent and the work environment was clean.

    Cons

-Manager disappeared right before I quit, none of the employees were aware of where he went and never reappeared
    -Hardly any hours
    -Owners seemed inexperienced
-Since I worked at a stadium, the line was ridiculously long no matter how many people were working. Customers were usually unpleasant from the long wait.

I worked at Marble Slab part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    -First time job with tip
    -Can be fun at times
    -Ice cream is great
    -Usually pretty easy
-Ability to move up fairly easily if you're 18
    -Nice people (aside from management)

    Cons

Dealing with management was an entire hassle and deterrent in and of itself throughout my employment. I quit due to a better job offer, to be honest. Not that bad of a first time job, but if you can find a better job, I'd suggest it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be kinder and better organized

I worked at Marble Slab part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pros: Nice co-workers, nice people, friendly environment. I would say that it was a decent first job and a good experience for those who have never worked before.

    Cons

Cons: The management wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. The turnover rate was really high because of discrepancies between what was promised in the interview and what actually happened. Chances to get a raise or any significant promotions is also a no-go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to be more connected with individual stores to see how successful they are and why they may not be operating as well as other locations.

I worked at Marble Slab part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Free ice cream, happy customers, variety of things to keep busy, tips were usually decent, manager was very involved despite managing three locations.

    Cons

Owner was not involved - I worked there for 1.5 years and met him twice. He didn't remember meeting me.

I worked at Marble Slab part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Free ice cream, made amazing in tips.

    Cons

Worked alone and with little knowledge. No paid training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management was terrible and never involved or there. Too concerned with saving money by turning off all the utilities when not in use like water and such. Wouldn't let you clock in even a second early without changing your time.

    Pros

I smelt like milk everyday! Free ice cream!

    Cons

You get fat, you get yelled at. No fun. You gotta make cookies.

Former Employee - Assistant Manager in Champaign, IL

I worked at Marble Slab part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The owner operators were organized, efficient, and kind. Expectations were high, but what was expected was clear. Staff was tight knit and they felt like family. A great first job with lots of room to move up and get paid more.

    Cons

Gossip and over dramatic employees made the family atmosphere tense. You couldn't trust some of the regular employees to do their job thoroughly and then being the manager, you usually took the hit for their failed work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Combat the drama as best as possible. It's expected when you hire 16-year-olds. If employees need a 15 breather to chill, let them, but beware of the employees who sit on their butts all day and eat gummy bears.

    Pros

    Fun work environment, friendly people

    Cons

Ice cream was hard sometimes making it difficult to scoop. Customers would often get upset about the high prices.
