I have been working at Marcal Paper Mills full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Casual dress code and good salaries. When I first started the culture was fun and the mood was light.

    Cons

The building is falling apart. Everyone is under pressure with little to no direction from senior leadership. There is not much work life balance and there are no senior leaders that are women.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Marcal Paper Mills full-time

    Pros

Convenient location right off of route 80. Very close to New York City.

Senior Staff is knowledgeable when it comes to the paper industry.

    Cons

Senior and Middle Management are completely unprofessional in the way they treat employees.

The senior staff constantly makes unreasonable and unattainable demands, then attacks you for not being able to follow through with them.

Senior staff regularly uses the threat of being terminated as "motivation."

Very high turnover rate. Multiple terminations on practically a monthly basis.

    Severely understaffed and underpaid.

    Benefits are not very good.

You're expected to work long hours if you are a salaried exempt employee, including weekends. Without compensation.

Hostile work environment. The majority of the employees are unhappy and pass their aggression onto others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to change their entire approach when it comes to the treatment of their employees.

I worked at Marcal Paper Mills full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

During old ownership, people were a bit happier about working there. A lot of interaction between top management and those in the middle-of-the-organization.

    Cons

Once the new company came in and made their changes, no one felt very comfortable being there. As they make the obvious change to private label, there is still a lot of uncertainty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I actually wish them luck with the move toward Private Label. They are knowledgeable people. No bitterness what so ever.
