Ok place to work. Chance to deal with interesting technologies depending on the project you're working on.

Software Developer (Current Employee)
Ottawa, ON (Canada)

I have been working at March Networks full-time for more than 3 years

ProsPeople is friendly. Benefits are Ok. Some products are quite interesting to work on.
Overall good work/life balance .

ConsStill a hardware oriented company;

Pay is under average. Don't expect bonuses either.

Performance reviews are non-existent and personal or team efforts are not recognized/valued. Also, there's no room for growth in the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere's a lack of focus on the software end of things. Some managers work from other countries (non-US countries) which makes team interaction complicated.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Hoped for more

Senior Product Manager (Former Employee)
Ottawa, ON (Canada)

I worked at March Networks full-time for more than 3 years

ProsExcellent management level team as well as R&D groups. Worked well together and generally "went the extra mile" to get things done. The management teams did a good job of advancing their agendas, driving product development and resource allocation. There was not a good senior management oversight process to prioritize and distribute resources (people, development, money, etc) and indecision seemed to rule. I'd rather go quickly than live with a project suffering death by a thousand cuts.

ConsSenior management was a bit indecisive and the direct result of that was the very disappointing sale of March at $5/share. So many lost opportunities. Came in and hoped to grow new business but that did not materialize.

I worked at March Networks full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat people, very friendly. Keg fridge is opened up on Friday's

ConsStuck in the late 90's telco world. Don't like to embrace new technology

Advice to Senior ManagementMake yourself a easier company to do business with. Also, the R&D needs to embrace new technologies.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

"OK" place to work, lots of turn-over, ok benefits, good pay, Senior Executives lack focus!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at March Networks

ProsMarch Networks offers good pay, flexible working hours, reasonable amount of time off, people are friendly.

ConsThe benefits have gotten pretty bad over the last few years, the products are declining, they struggle to deliver products to the market in a timely manner, a lot of turnover, many employees feel required to work while on vacation (I see this happen a lot), communication internally is the worst I have seen in any company, there is a lack of trust between executives and employees. The company has a strategic direction in place, but the executives lack the ability to execute. Company struggles to be profitable.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrust your people, when you say you are going to set a strategic direction, learn to follow it, focus on being great at something, not just good at a bunch of crap. Remember your people make your organization successful, stop giving people a reason to leave, turnover is killing the teams. Communication is key and the executive team at March Networks thinks they are doing a good job, but in reality they do a lousy job of communicating internally.
