I have been working at Marin General Hospital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful Hospitalists, great location, free parking. Health benefits are good.

    Cons

Horrible computer system. CNO not supportive of nurses, nursing leadership has absolutely no clue about the challenges of the bedside nurses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Entirely too many middle-managers, no true leadership from the CNO. Punitive, does not respect or listen to her nurses. Needs to learn how to communicate and respect staff. Somebody needs to own the problems and deal with them. Leadership needs to be present and available inside hospital, not hiding out in meetings and offices.

I worked at Marin General Hospital full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Located in a nice area with great places to walk to during your lunch break.

    Cons

Before accepting a position at Marin Imaging Breast Center, I had been warned and unfortunately didn't listen. I was actually hopeful and didn't think it would be that bad. Ohh, its not bad, its HORRIBLE!!! Manager is completely out of line with employees, yells at them, stands in front of exam door to listen to your conversation with patients and will not reprimand those that cause a hostile environment.
I don't understand why Marin General would have someone in that position that clearly doesn't know what they are doing, and doesn't bring the department up, but will make sure you are always down. Negative remarks and being called into the office are the norm. Your opinion will not matter here, and you will be blamed for things you didn't do or have any control over. HR isn't helpful either, unfortunately.
There are only three mammography technologists working in the entire place now. Leadership is lacking, and department is quickly falling apart. Don't join the mess!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be some new management in the Breast Center. That kind of environment is unhealthy and toxic. The company will slowly dwindle and suffer. No one will want to be around an unstable person who thinks they are "managing" the place. Patients will suffer, staff will suffer, company will lose money because of the low staff. It just goes on and on. You have been warned. I didn't listen, hopefully you will.

    Pros

Highest salary range for most positions in the SF bay area.
Located in a high income, gorgeous setting.

    Cons

Patients, employees and manager speech & behaviors reek of superior entitlement attitude. Lots of disrespectful, arrogant people work here. Patients are often rude, demanding & demeaning.
C-suite is a revolving door for disengaged, strategy free "leaders".
Community relations are often combative and dismissive.
Not a place to plan a long term, satisfying career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be committed to stick is out for more than 12 months. Sincerely work with community to improve relationship. Improve scope and quality of customer services. Improve communication with employees.

I have been working at Marin General Hospital full-time

    Pros

There are some really dedicated, smart, productive people that work here, but there is also the opposite, unfortunately. Some people are really inefficient, and just plain crabby. I think the leadership is doing their best and has good intentions, but as with all big organizations I think there are some inefficiencies that should be addressed. The pay and benefits are good. They have a good outline of and vision for the culture of the organization, but have a long way to go to realize it.

    Cons

Communication between departments and even between human beings can be really horrible. The whole hospital could use some training and attention to positive, respectful communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

"Walk the talk", uphold the "Marin General way" and make people, at all levels in the organization, accountable to respectful, positive, productive communication and actions. The leaders of the organization should especially be models of this, which is not always the case.

    Pros

I met some very nice people. Working environment was comfortable.

    Cons

Management treated staff unfairly. Work of extra hours was not appreciated. Teamwork was disfunctional.

    Pros

A lot of nice people and helpful hands, If you like Medicine and a Health care environment then is the place for you.

    Cons

Disengagement from management, lack of commitment and training is not the best. Very hard for anybody who doesn't have experience working in a Hospital

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and make use of those who are valuable and hard workers, and get rid of the ones who have been the longest and don't care about their job
