    Pros

Offices in great locations Departments other than Customer Success are run well "Worker bees" that care

    Cons

Lack of executive leadership Lots of turnover in Customer Success group Reactive product development cycle

    Advice to Management

Remember that it is always the client that comes first. As such, arm, motivate, train and incent your customer facing folks instead of blaming them the for the poor contracts they inherited from sales or the client dissatisfaction from a complex product that has slipped behind the competition.

    Pros

strong brand, good location, solid benefits

    Cons

Company suffering from incessant nepotism and change of management. HR is clueless. Product has lacked innovation for some time.

    Advice to Management

Get back to grassroots. Poor executive hiring is forcing current talent to find less abusive employers. Not ok way you're treating ppl who've dedicated years to mission/vision.

Great product, company culture quickly changing

I have been working at Marin Software

    Pros

-The product is industry leading and the folks building it are really smart -Competitive salary -Ok work life balance - being in a remote office is fairly autonomous as long as you get your work done

    Cons

-Becoming consumed in corporate red tape -Management overhaul- original management from start up has left and new management doesnt care as much about culture -lack of visibility in remote offices. People in SF are getting picked for all special projects -lack of management direction. We've been in a state of constant flux for 1.5 years with no goals or reviews

    Advice to Management

Settle on a structure and have the discipline to stay with it. Work on ways to keep old employees, historical knowledge is huge in a tech/software company and the ramp up speed is slow. Keep putting emphasis on building a great product. It's easy to stay excited when great things are coming out

    Pros

Very nice location with great benefits ranging from commuter/parking reimbursement, flex spend, stocked fridge, 3 weeks PTO, solid salary, etc. Product is strong in the market and constantly evolving for the better. People are smart and assertive.

    Cons

Business units are silo'ed and they don't work together cohesively sometimes. Silos create their own culture and they dont always keep the overall mission in mind.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the silos - managers need to build cohesive and synergistic teams to really push Marin forward.Keep innovating.

    Pros

Great product, has good potential especially now that the company has gone public. Lots of smart, talented people in the company to work with, can definitely learn a lot while working at Marin.

    Cons

Company is getting a lot bigger really fast. A lot more processes, HR involvement, making it that much harder to get things done. Not a lot of visibility into company/product vision.

    Pros

The people at Marin are what make the company so great to work for. The hiring managers do a great job of hiring individuals that are not only qualified, but incredibly talented on a number of fronts. The management is better than anywhere else that I've worked previously, and for the most part the teams are well organized and cross-functional overall, with information flowing freely to and from each team member to help each other become more effective w/ their particular role.

    Cons

The company is growing quickly and the market is maturing faster by the day. Marin has established itself as a market leader and would like to keep it that way in an increasingly fragmented and competitive space. This being said, as a company that's going through changes, it's difficult to minimize the "growing pains" experienced by employees. Keeping up with the face rate-of-change can be difficult for some.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

    Pros

    - best benefits I have ever seen - "we don't play the blame game, we look for solutions" is practiced (most of the time) - exceptional CEO - good work-life balance - very diverse group of employees on all levels - outstanding engineers

    Cons

    - a tad too compartmentalized, groups don't share enough ideas (look how Goggle does it) - in some cases, skills of individual employees are not fully utilized

    Advice to Management

    - since it's a public company now and short-term steps have higher priorities, don't loose the original goals from the long-term plans.

    Pros

A solid product that continues to innovate.

    Cons

Senior management is not in tune with the organization as it continues to grow.

    Advice to Management

Spend some time getting in touch with employees and allow them to help you improve the organization.

    Pros

Great co-workers Excellent life/work balance Everyone is well paid, almost too well paid Amazing location Everyone works hard

    Cons

Getting to be too bureaucratic Upper management only available to Ivy Leaguers New features of product are half-baked, take too long to develop, and seem to lack innovation

    Advice to Management

Come up with our own ideas, not what's driven by sales. If there's no innovation within the company, talented contributors will leave. Act like you've been there and lead, don't react. If we aren't careful, we will get lapped by our competitors.
