Pros
I did like working for this company.<meta name="robots" content="noindex, noarchive, nofollow, NOYDIR"> There were many pros to it including freedom and ability to allow employee's creativeness shine through. Also, work life balance was definitely achievable working here.
Cons
Feedback when doing something wrong or good was not quite what I would like for it to be. So sometimes I was a little confused if I was doing the right thing or the wrong thing. Also, pay was industry average which isn't the worst thing but it would have been nice to be able to move up in salary quicker.
Advice to Senior Management
Have a better system when it comes to feedback. Allow for easier accessibility to move up in pay scale and responsibilities.
Pros
High integrety organization, well respected ownership and senior management, highly dedicated staff. Leader in the industry.
Cons
Management by committee can cause some decisions to take longer than necessary.
Pros
benefits are great, plenty of vacation time
Cons
politics, no travel perks. terrible pay
Advice to Senior Management
Have you ever heard the term "opportunity cost" ?? How many new employees have left on their own free will a couple of years into work at TMTC? Maybe you should consider a fair compensation, it will be less of an impact to your bottom line than it is to continually hire and train new associates. Not to mention it will save a lot of time and headaches on the part of management.
Pros
Mark Travel has great people to work with and offers their employees many opportunities for affordable travel. Company has a great reputation in the hospitality industry.
Cons
Mark Travel is economy driven so when the economy declines, lay offs are inevitable. Health insurance is good, but comes with high deductibles.
Pros
Some advancement opportunities exist, travel industry, exciting products, great people to work with, and solid history within their competitive set.
Cons
Poor benefits, salaries low, poor top leadership, lack of innovation, inability to change with times/industry, too many long-term employees want to keep status quo, not much reason to stay there anymore, reputation has become poor within industry, executive direction is sporadic and ineffective. They continue to lose business units at an alarming pace and they are no longer stable in the a very unstable industry.
Advice to Senior Management
Change to top leadership - bring in someone with an effective vision that will take Mark Travel back to what it used to be - respected in the industry and loved by employees.
Pros
Dynamic atmosphere with a culture that definately supports integrity and an entrepeneurial mindset. This is the sort of place that if you are driven, creative, and naturally inquisitive you will do very well. Senior leadership genuinely care about people and strives to do the right thing, sometimes at a cost to the business.
Cons
Some policies seem a little stringent in the information age - I am feeling some anxiety for even writing this review.
Advice to Senior Management
Open the floodgates for feedback
Pros
vacation time, flexible with personal life
Cons
travel benefits keep diminishing, challenging to promote from within, uncompetitive salary
Advice to Senior Management
Review employees performance more often
Pros
LME is a family owned business, the owner Bill Sr was an amazing, caring person, when he communicated to all it was well received and informative. LME is in the travel industry, they owned Funjet Vacations and VAX was a sub company for LME, VAX is a great product for travel agents.
Cons
There are several companies within LME, too many cooks in the kitchen would be the best way to describe it. I worked for VAX and the management there was poor and clicky. It was hare to get concrete direction, as the management always changed the focus, which is hard to manage to.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management at VAX was lacking.
Pros
Mark Travel provided a flexible and balanced work life. Great place to get your feet wet after college as well as a good place to work if you are a parent in need of a flexible work schedule. A lot of great people work for the company and is a very warm family environment.
Cons
For the young professional there are very limited growth opportunities. Very fun work environment but you do have many trade offs for enjoying this relaxed work environment. Technology is very limited and it is a very closed wall organization. Leadership sometimes suffers from group think and not always focused on being ahead of the pack.
Advice to Senior Management
Look to grow company from within.
