great entry level management opportunity

National Retail Sales Representative (Former Employee)
Rockford, IL

I worked at MarketSource full-time for more than 3 years

Prosgreat pay, benefits, bonuses. Worked with numerous upper level executives. Gained lots of contacts for furthering my career.

Constons of driving, long hours. No maternity leave pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementExecutives and Management need to be more on the same page. Upper level executives seemed to change their minds a lot and it created lots of confusion.

A great gateway job to move up in the future.

Wireless Team Leader (Current Employee)
Hialeah, FL

I have been working at MarketSource full-time for more than a year

Prosgreat pay for being a student

commission structure constantly growing in a good way

flexible schedule

Good benefits, Dental, health.

you get trained to work with Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and many other phone companies so the experience is very valuable for me for when I decide to move up in another job.

Conssome days can be very slow and feel unproductive.

Not the ideal job to make a living

stress to always make goals can sometimes interfere with personal life

As a salesperson, I always give customers my phone number. sometimes I get calls when im off and it can be a minor nuisance, but its what I signed up for.

Advice to Senior Managementkeep communicating with your sales associates and always keep on the lookout for who are the leaders making great examples of the company.

Horrible Company to work for as Part time Rep

Target Mobile Sales Representative (Former Employee)

I worked at MarketSource part-time for less than a year

ProsCoworkers make the job easier

ConsVery low pay and hours, upper management are disorganized with no support or care for part time store workers

Advice to Senior ManagementIf your employees are not happy your business wont grow. Put more money into advertising so it won't be so difficult to sell. No one can survive long off that hourly pay. Change it!!

Terrible DM and incredibly slow/boring

Team Leader (Current Employee)

I have been working at MarketSource full-time for more than a year

ProsPay was good, and commission had potential to be good

ConsHours were terrible. No reason to be working very early in the morning when barely any guests were in the store as well as night. Terrible DM. They treated employees as a number and that was it. Scheduling was done by the DM which was even worse. In store leads really have no power and are just a glorified sales associate. Full time means you get no life, no time off, and no respect from higher ups. Little to no marketing. Most people don't know about Target Mobile.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive the store more power. There is no point in having the DMs do the scheduling when they don't know the lives of the employees in the stores. Numerous times part timers were getting scheduled times when they could not work. Again hopefully it was just our DM, but when time off was asked it was forgotten even after multiple reminders. Our DM really made a terrible job experience, and it was the reason I really disliked the company for giving that person a job which they did not deserve.

I wouldn't recommend working here.

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at MarketSource part-time for less than a year

ProsYou get to work for the three major wireless carriers. At&t Verizon Sprint. It's an easy job if you know how to sell and talk to people. Discounted wireless service.

ConsHigh turnover rate. Sales associates make very low hourly rate. $8.25. Expect them to call you everyday to work because people call out. It is difficult to get promoted to become team lead

Your program's success will depend on your manager's ability to work with and improve, not just appease, the client.

Account Sales Representative (Current Employee)

I have been working at MarketSource full-time for more than a year

ProsDepending on the program, may be able to work with multiple retailers and locations. Lots of freedom.

ConsManagement often recycled between programs, even when failing. Operations is often well behind and inefficient. If consistently leading in sales, expect them ask you "how are you doing that??" and then completely ignore any wide-scale implementation of your successes. If I've proved it month after month and successfully mentored other districts into the same results, drop the "I've been doing it longer" line and pay attention.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate employee council within programs to help improve (not "management" level). Step up to the client when their direction is flawed or when they don't deliver on their end.

Room for Improvement

Target Mobile Sales Representative (Current Employee)
York, PA

I have been working at MarketSource part-time for less than a year

ProsWork w/ 3 phone carriers. Great coworkers. Easy work.

ConsHourly pay is super low ($8.50) and you'll never hit meaningful commission based on store traffic and the existing numbers of the store. Terrible computer system. Too pushy about pushing insurance on customers.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvertise more in the Target flyers to increase store traffic for mobile. More traffic equals more sales. Best Buy is whooping your rear end day in and day out. Better pay... $8.50/hr is a joke.
