I have been working at MarketSource part-time

    Pros

There are always projects to work on. The managers are always there to help you on whatever you need. Excellent Support team with around the clock availability.

    Cons

The project that you are assigned might not be the project you want. The hours are not consistent and can be difficult to get full-time positions within the company.

    Advice to Management

Bring in projects that a full-time employee can build on. Need to bring in drive time and longer break time for individual working full time position.

I have been working at MarketSource part-time

    Pros

Target Mobile gives great, flexible hours. It's especially great for college students who only go to school on certain days, and have other weekdays and weekends off. They give commission, not much, but something. As a Target mobile Team Member you are given discounts off your monthly mobile plans for the compose that are sold there. You also get certain discounts on some very specific phone accessories. You don't have a manager looking over you every day, at least I didn't. The Target Mobile support line is perry helpful, for the most part. There is not very much to do, so some days are pretty easy.

    Cons

Where do I start? Target Mobile uses extremely high pressure sales tactics. This job can get very stressful, especially if you are at a low volume store. My manager expected me, and the rest of my coworkers to pull sales out of thin air. They push us to talk to every customer we see, and somehow make the conversation related to phones and push for a sale, which can get very uncomfortable for both the customer, and the sales person. The store can be empty, and you will be expected to somehow make a sale. Most people come into Target to buy household goods, not upgrade their phones. There are some good days for phone sales, but not every day can be a good day. A sale cannot be made out of every person that walks into a Target. My boss would tell us to help out the Target electronic team members whenever we could so that way they could see that we are valuable to Target. Other days my boss would tell us that we are not Target employees, so we were to not engage with them or help them with their job whatsoever, just focus on sales, sales, sales! This was very confusing. This could also create tension between the Target team and the Target Mobile team. The phone companies that are sold at Target Mobile are constantly changing their plans, so it can get quite challenging to keep up with the ever changing plans, and promotions for each of the companies. Between your manager (DM), the Target manager, LOD, the phone companies' reps., electronics lead, and your team lead, it can get quite frustrating because everyone feels like you report to them. As far as I was concerned, my DM was the only one I truly had to answer to. I did not work for Target directly, so the store manager was someone I would listen to, but I definitely did not consider them nor any of their goons to be my bosses. The mobile companies' reps would come and expect for us to know every single minute detail about their respective companies and their plans. They need to get it through their heads that we are trying to juggle all the other companies in our heads. Don't get me wrong, some of the reps were really good, and I enjoyed talking to them and engaging with them, but others could be a real pain. The commission plan is always changing, and for the worst. They push insurance sales A LOT. If we would make a phone sale without insurance you would get reprimanded. You can be happy that you even made a sale at all, but god forbid it's without insurance, because it will hurt your District's scores, and its like you might as well not have made a sale at all. The system that is being used to make phone sales is horrendous. You can sometimes lose sales because of it. Most of the computers that are being used are quite old and are not up to date with curent current standards that are needed to complete the job training. You can also use the work iPad to do the training, but it can also be a pain. So if you can't do it at work, you have to try and do it at home, and of course with no compensation. Please don't let my bad experiences with Target Mobile discourage you from trying to get a job with them. It's an OK job, and I liked it, to a certain point. Not everyone will have the same experiences as I have.

    Advice to Management

Stop using extremely high pressure sales tactics that make both Target customers and Target Mobile guests uncomfortable.

    Pros

The company had a lot of room for growth (titles and responsibilities). The young crowd was also fun to work with.

    Cons

Pay was not on par with similar companies in the area. Turnover led to overworked staff and a lack of a work-life balance.

I have been working at MarketSource full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexbility. Autonomy. No micro-managing. Decent benefits. Ability to make decisions independently.

    Cons

Salary on the low side and no raises. Can feel separated from corporate office.

    Advice to Management

It would be helpful to include the field staff in regular communications so they feel a part of a team and not like they're on an island alone.

    Pros

Flexible Good work life balance Weekly pay Promote from within Believe in their core values

    Cons

Sales numbers are forever incorrect. Managing to numbers that are incorrect is not effective. Micro-managing DM's to basically make them feel like glorified sales reps. Onboarding new employees is not structured.

    Advice to Management
