I worked at MarketStar for less than a year

    Pros

Ability to met and interact with new people everyday. They don't micromanage you. You work outside of an office and can basically choose your own schedule

    Cons

Sometimes you work 12-14 hour days but are on a salary based on an eight hour day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give Product Specialists a higher starting salary. Allow for less detail in the reports. You visit the same stores all the time so it gets difficult to fill out reports without repeating the answers again and again

I have been working at MarketStar full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Generous PTO and compensation. Clean work environment. MarketStar ate a lot of the increased cost for benefits when rates went up so that the employees could retain approximately the same take home pay.

    Cons

Since most teams are client-based, your job is at the mercy of how well that client is doing in their respective markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recruiting always claims to be there to help those that have been laid off from a team as part of a downsizing, but never seems to call afterwards. A lot of great team members have not returned to MarketStar after a RIF because of the difficulty to get a call back.

I have been working at MarketStar full-time

    Pros

This company has a great culture, if you are willing to invest your time and energy you will succeed in this company.
You will have the freedom and flexibility to create your own schedule, you additionally have a support system.

    Cons

Much of the work is individual base and not working with peers. You must be self motivated or else you will procrastinate and end up being terminated. If the client does not like you they will not make for a happy work place or space.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be self motivated and willing to learn and share.

    Pros

great training, management respects their employees, company supplies everything that is needed to do field work, company provides extra incentives to make job easier, pays well

    Cons

not much room to grow, contract jobs are presented with the false pretense that they will find a place for you in another program at end of contract, which is overreaching the actuality of positions available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Numerous opportunities to grow in the company. Exceptional support and tools for success. Great history, and successful growing the business that evolves well to the needs of the market.

    Cons

Very conservative, not a lot of innovation "thinking outside the box" during my time there. The direction of the company is controlled by a few stakeholders.
