I have been working at Marketlink full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It's a casual atmosphere, and the work itself is not difficult, once you get familiar with the products being sold.

    Cons

Minimum wage pay, and very low commissions (as low as $3 and change per sale, an multi-sale days are rare) mean you will be lucky to make $10 an hour. The training doesn't prepare you for being on the floor - you just have to dig in and go for it. It's a cubicle setup, and no personal decor, or even work-based paper materials, are allowed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the training to focus on how to use the systems, rather than fill-in-the-blank worksheet busy work. Keep reps up to date on new features and products. Figure out some way to up the pay, and you will get better applicants.

    I worked at Marketlink

    Pros

The lower level management are knowledgable and have a wealth of experience to share with team members. Several coaching opportunities throughout the week help performance and quality improve continuously.

    Cons

Center managers and corporate management are secretive and promote an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty about regular hours and mandatory overtime. Coaching can be infrequent. Communication from leadership is often unclear and inconsistent. Pay is low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be clear. You get what you pay for.

I have been working at Marketlink part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great time off after 6 months, if you actually make it to this point.

    Cons

-Horrible management: Do not care about employees
-Are not open to feedback: Their way or the highway
-Frequent lay-offs for not enough leads
-Reported: If you give two weeks notice, you will be let go immediately after
-Extremely high turnover rate (I.e. At the center, the "longest employee" has been there for just 5 months
    -No coaching for supervision
    -Extremely unprofessional
    -Very low moral
-EVEN THOUGH THEY HIRE PRACTICALLY ANYONE, DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR IN THE LONG-RUN DON'T WORK HERE!
-If you have an appointment, then you have to take a half-day occurrence

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Marketlink full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

All the people are amazing and the pay is higher than average for my area

    Cons

Find new leads and get new campaigns. Stop letting the contractor push their most terrible jobs off on your employees. You literally talk 80%-90% elderly people and try and get them to change service providers or sign up in general. It doesn't work out and it's highly manipulative. You'll never get a sale by telling the upfront truth. You'll also never get a permanant raise and the raise they offer is unattainable by the metrics you are given. Only 1 person has actually achieved the raise in my 10 months

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop letting the contractors give you all their trash. That is what they are doing. Get new contracts with other businesses. Your manpower WILL THANK YOU!!!!!!

I worked at Marketlink full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Relatively convenient location for most.

    Cons

Pay is significantly lower for most positions than to comparable positions in the metro. The company culture is very rough and the work environment is dirty. Turnover is very high for all levels of positions. Commission structure for TSRs is purposely misleading.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to improve company culture. Treat employees with respect, offer opportunities for advancement, and work on cleaning up the place!

    Pros

The company posts jobs internally for supervisor/team lead and other staff openings. If you're like me and hope to advance your career but just don't have the experience yet, this is a good opportunity.

    Cons

Some of the people aren't always professional. I think this is getting better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue working with employees to help them improve their skills.

I have been working at Marketlink

    Pros

Diversity of IT experience and responsibility in a challenging, high pressure production-oriented work environment. Attractive salary and year-end bonus structure in a relatively recession-resistant industry.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement due to a) ultra-lean staffing, b) infrastucture investment philosophy, c) emphasis on technical support outsourcing, d) management's limited knowledge of information technology in support of the company goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in ongoing employee staff development to obtain long-term, competitive advantages.
