    Pros

Working with passionate employees and customers. Being in a dynamic and fun industry with some unique benefits. Discounts on gear and some flexibility in scheduling

    Cons

The owner is not a very organized businessman, Expects a lot for little pay. Seems to be stuck in the past when it comes to pay and how to treat the employee

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Marmot Mountain Works part-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are some awesome employees who genuinely care
Easy to schedule vacations or time off
    Good employee discount

    Cons

Manager can't manage, very passive aggressive behavior, little to no leadership
Owner still thinks its 1991 and doesn't update website or store
Buyers don't come into store and ask for feedback because of bad relationships with current manager

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the manager, get someone who knows how to manage and get the buyers involved with the employees who know what is going to sell and what isn't. Update website and clean up the store.

I have been working at Marmot Mountain Works

    Pros

A great place to learn the ropes and make mistakes. Lost of free outdoor gear to be had. Industry reps shower buyers with free demo equipment. An ideal place if you're looking to get free gear.

    Cons

Professional development is doesn't exist here. Training - you have to teach yourself. Management couldn't lead themselves out of a wet paper bag, and is more concerned with their own needs than the needs of their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to communicate with your staff, and invest in the professional development of those that show promise. Stop hiring Yes Men to lead.
