I worked at Marriott full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good networking opportunities, compensation average, perhaps lower calibre of graduate salaries but depends on which hotel you work in.

    Cons

Long hours, stressful work, hospitality roles can be stellar or horrible, depends on team and hotel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train everyone more, Marriott philosophy of putting employees first does not deliver across all properties and levels of management.

I worked at Marriott full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The management treats you like a person. No nepatism. Everything done by the book. Flexible hours. You can move and usually transfer locations.

    Cons

Trying to get back in after leaving is difficult. Hotel hours are inconsistent at any hotel. Guests hit on you a lot but management will defend you.

    Pros

Nice people, management are grand also. I started in reservations and quickly got promoted so opportunities do exist within Marriott

    Cons

Terrible pay. Similar to people flipping burgers for a living..

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible work schedules, exciting feeling of change and inspiration in recent years, culture is incredibly welcoming and supportive

    Cons

Due to large size, some things take longer to get done due to too many check-points, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be on the lookout/have ears open to ideas for how to make internal processes more efficient. There is a feeling in some groups that the way they've been doing business for the past 20 years is still the best way, which is not necessarily the case.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great people to work with

    Cons

Being in the hospitality industry it is open 24/7/365. That gets old real quick.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

nothing about a particular franchise. I would've loved to work at a corporate marriott

    Cons

too many to list; but for starters the ridiculous way this particular franchise "promoted" internally was a facade

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't be so passive aggessive and blatantly lie to your staff on a daily basis. I would also end the illegal hours (regarding turnover) if I were you.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

The people really love what they do and they work hard to make sure you do the same.

    Cons

Hotel industry hours are terrible, but that's not Marriott's fault.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
