    Pros

The management treats you like a person. No nepatism. Everything done by the book. Flexible hours. You can move and usually transfer locations.

    Cons

Trying to get back in after leaving is difficult. Hotel hours are inconsistent at any hotel. Guests hit on you a lot but management will defend you.

    Pros

    Great people to work with

    Cons

Being in the hospitality industry it is open 24/7/365. That gets old real quick.

    Advice to Management

    Distribute the work load

    Pros

Very flexible work schedules, exciting feeling of change and inspiration in recent years, culture is incredibly welcoming and supportive

    Cons

Due to large size, some things take longer to get done due to too many check-points, etc.

    Advice to Management

Be on the lookout/have ears open to ideas for how to make internal processes more efficient. There is a feeling in some groups that the way they've been doing business for the past 20 years is still the best way, which is not necessarily the case.

    Pros

The people really love what they do and they work hard to make sure you do the same.

    Cons

Hotel industry hours are terrible, but that's not Marriott's fault.

    Advice to Management

Consider your front desk associates a vital part of the business.

    Pros

Most people here will take the time to teach you whatever you're interested in. It's a very fair, positive environment.

    Cons

Can be very political, and occasionally progress is stalled because managers are stretched too thin.

    Advice to Management

Hire more managers, or perhaps spend more time training them to balance multiple projects.

  11. Very stressful work for service employees. Should consider hiring more service employees

    Pros

A friendly environment. The staff at the location i worked with was very much like a family.

    Cons

A lot of work for very few people. Although the work was very demanding the pay was considerably low. Worked as a "houseman" and was given several tasks that I was solely responsible for which I believe weren't fairly distributed for such a salary (10/hr) that offered minimum benefits. Many of these tasks seemed unreasonable(ie. Spending hours shopping for personal groceries for guests ). This was my constant battle throughout my employment with them. Glad to have moved on.

    Advice to Management

Hire more service employees, more consideration or more pay
