I have been working at Marriott

    Pros

Will work with accommodating schedule. And decent benefits.

    Cons

Hire ghetto people who are team players. Very disorganized. Housekeepers only out for themselves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't hire unreliable people

    I worked at Marriott full-time

    Pros

Potential to move up and grow with the company.
While my experience was unfortunate, I think that a different Marriott location might be a good place to work.

    Cons

Very bad management (completely unorganized, lack experience, unprofessional, etc.).
    Very low pay.
The days and hours that you work are very unpredictable and sometimes you only find out the day before.
When managers were underperforming/not showing up it took about 6 months for them to be fired, which is way too long.

    I worked at Marriott

    Pros

They teach you the basics of service. Learn how a business runs.

    Cons

You are expected to give the customer service to match the hundreds or thousands they spend. Marriott keeps 80% and gives you 20%.

I have been working at Marriott full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

When you travel you can get a hotel discount if it is available when you are traveling

    Cons

Unstable work schedule, Last minute schedule changes & not due to a call off of an employee very common.Your home life has to take a back seat to work life. In order to work here you have to be extremely flexible with schedule. Including working until late and then have to come back 8 hours later which leaves no time for a healthy nights sleep. You do not get properly trained for your job, so when mistakes happen it is always your fault. If you haven't been there a long time, you get turned down for time off even if you told them you needed it when hired and it was already pre approved. Management tells you to do one thing and then when you do it and it turns out wrong you are held accountable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees two days off and the same two days off every week and also no back to back schedules.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and located around the globe. I worked for franchised hotels, so I only had access to select Marriott benefits. The employee discounts on hotel rooms are awesome!

    Cons

It is a 24/7 business so be prepared to work hard. But it is rewarding work that give out what you put into it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Love MGS, it is an awesome resource that brings the whole company together.

I have been working at Marriott full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent hours, good benefits, easy work for someone from a higher standard kitchen.

    Cons

pay is a bit low, promotions are less likely if you are not in the "managements circle". Coming from a higher end restaurant you can find that it is "boring" working there. Not so receptive to new ideas about mainstreaming processes.
