    Pros

    Great for a career in insurance brokerage. Benefits are pretty solid. Tuition reimbursement. Great work and life balance. International opportunities.

    Cons

    Pay is poor. Growth opportunities are also limited. Management is always changing, so there is obviously much transition through out the company

    Advice to Management

    Get some stability at management level. Not much respect for employees who are not in brokerage. Not a good place to work

    8-5 hours Non - competitive atmosphere friedliness of employees the dealines that need to be met are not firm the facilities

    Cons

    separation from senior management the pay is not increased for performance or tenure no career advancement working in an outdated industry

    Advice to Management

    provide more transparency to employees regarding pay structure be more approachable accept scheduling of meetings with new hires incease pay

    Pros

    * Pay is at par and better than industry although the AI is poor

    Cons

    * Not much opportunity to grow personally and professionally

    * To understand the importance of recognition, organizational culture and providing opportunity for growth, create a sense of belonging

    Pros

    Despite everything, there are still some really great people to work with left in the company. Work/life balance is good, vacation times and so on are adequate. Recent management seems more disciplined than in the past.

    Cons

    No long-term strategy for anything - management by slogans. Top-level management is on up to par with what you would expect in a major corporation. Stagnation was an option before the Spitzer lawsuite - it is no longer, but management doesn't know how to do anything else.

    Advice to Management

    Get into details - do not just set theoretical goals, but figure out the plan of attack. Do it yourself - whoever you delegate it to will likely be too incompetent to do it well.

    Pros

    Vacation time is great, medical/dental/vision benefits are pretty good, ability to work from home when necessary, and expense account for rare occassions.

    Cons

    Marsh does not value young talent nor diversity. There are no diversity initiatives, little to know mentorship by senior level management. This is a company that runs on "who you know" and "familial ties". It's hard to get ahead based on the merit of your work. There is little to no incentive to continue to do a "great job". I would not suggest Marsh as a place to work; especially for entry level people.

    VALUE YOUNG TALENT, VALUE DIVERSITY, CREATE INCENTIVES TO RETAIN YOUR INVESTMENTS IN EMPLOYEES

    Flexible hours, good coworkers in the trench.

    Cons

    Lot of people with feeling of entitlement for now particular good reason. Poor selection of managers based on broking ability instead of management ability.

    Advice to Management

    More reward to people without an MD title.

    Pros

    Good systems and great staff with better internal organization than the other large broking houses. Everyone I worked with was committed to the success of the firm

    Cons

    Staff really are simply treated as a commodity. The days of 'Treat em mean and keep em keen' just don't wash anymore

    Advice to Management

    Start by looking after your staff. Don't just talk about it but DO IT. Marsh has the tools to be the best broker but unless it keeps its good staff, then it doesn't have a hope

    Pros

    Good Benifits, time off is great.

    Cons

    If you enjoy being rewarded for performance with paper certificates and once in a blue moon a $5.00 gas card then this might be a place for you. Raises are far and few inbetween, even for the best of performers. Salaries are very low and stay that way. Everyone is expendable so if you do not peform satisfactory, you are gone, cause they can replace you with another robot. Basically there is no where go and is basically a place to collect a minimal check.

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your talent, compensate them for their work and you will not have the turnover rate you have.

    Pros

    If you want to work 9-5, MMC offers a great work/life balance. If you're not that motivated and just want to collect a paycheck, MMC is the place to be.

    Cons

    There are so many people working there that no one knows what anyone else does. You can literally do practically nothing and no one will know. Completely unmotivating environment--- imagine "The Office"-- cubicles, non-descript design, bland, boring, completely stale but then again, it is insurance.

    Advice to Management

    Interact more with the employee population. No one even knows who Sr Management is because they sit on a separate floor and have almost no interaction with the company as a whole. It is pitiful. Get more involved in community based initiatives-- involve employees.

    Pros

    Decent in Office management. Veteran industry members. Knowledgeable team members. Mostly Friendly people.

    Cons

    Favoritism on promotions is blatantly obvious. Training is weak. Morale is low. Benefits are by no means average. Employees work hard but rewards are not often obtained. Older employee animosity towards those in the undergraduate programs is voiced at times.

    Advice to Management

    As mentioned in other reviews I believed more needs to be done to retain top employees financially, to assist with the growth and management of the offices and company. Too many good minds leave because they are being vastly under compensated.
