There is a huge knowledge base within the company and people are generally willing to help out and share that knowledge. Marsh does a great job of creating knowledge experts within the company which probably is one of our largest assets.
Cons
The downsides are that you have to work really hard to get people to recognize the hard work that you are doing. I would also say that the compensation is below what other companies in the industry pay

I would say that they need to recognize how hard everyone is working and it should be recognized through compensation.

It's a great company. Excellent pay, excellent advancement opportunities, scored 100 on the HRC Equality Index, community service minded, flexible in scheduling

The one big con I can think of is that MMC is such a huge company that you can sometimes feel like just a number, but that feeling goes away pretty quickly.

There are too many crusty old curmudgeons holding onto the ways of the past. We need some fresh blood and fresh thinking to quickly resuscitate this century-old organization.

Invest in people, invest in innovation. Embrace failure, embrace learning. Manage risk, manage complexity--don't try to avoid or eliminate it.

The culture is great; full of friendly people, fun social events and very little gossip. Most of the managers, including mine, are wonderful and help make it a good place to work.

Unfortunately, the corporate office is always trying to cut our budget, which means no raises, and a too-small staff. Turnover is very high.

Value your employees more through higher/fair wages and opportunities to earn more in the future.

-Cutting nickels and dimes at every corner, which makes it harder to feel valued and also more difficult to perform my job in certain instances
Advice to Senior Management
All the discussions about transparency with clients, you need some with your employees. There needs to be some idea of what people can expect to receive in terms of compensation and benefits as they advance. Also, there need to be more clear guidelines for advancement. Please update the technology. No "global leader" should be using IE 6 when IE 9 is being unveiled.
