Pros
they treat people baddly so they are forced to pay better than average wages. I would rather take a much lower paying job than stay there, which is what I did.
Cons
Management is horrible, no leadership at all.
You are a resource to be consumed then disposed of. I worked there for 2 years in that time my location had a turnover rate (voluntary) of ~ 40%
Advice to Senior Management
learn how to treat people with respect. we do not exist only to serve the company. there is no work life balance. managemant plays favorites all the time.
Pros
Insurance fundamentals, team work, benefits, interaction with numerous departments/functional areas. office politics--you'll learn how to avoid work! A training ground for the new graduate!
Cons
Lazy management who are much older and many who could not put together a PowerPoint slide or conduct a meeting.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to progress to the 21st century! All of their systems are at least 20 years old and no plans to modernize.
Pros
Lots of knowledge sharing
Good internal protocols
Responsible Management
Cons
* No transparency in pay. Seems other industries pay more
* Lots of Transparency and internal audit requirements - takes away from servicing clientele
Pros
Different Tasks for different companies. Good skills development program.
Cons
Not too challenging sometimes.
Sales and advisoring go together, which is not good if ou are not confortable with one of those areas.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage performance through better wages.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Very good benefits with modest co-pays and cost to employees.
Nice pension plan - if you work there long enough to get it
Cons
The company jumps from "initiative" to "initiative" with absolute abandon resulting in mixed messages to employees as well as clients.
Unfortunately, as has been widely reported, employee loyalty and track record of accomplishments is not valued much at Marsh. Todays performance is what matters above all else.
Management is often more concerned with keeping their own jobs and show an unfortunate inability to take risk.
Advice to Senior Management
Marsh is a wonderful legacy company. Try to keep in perspective what made Marsh great: its people. Sadly, your blind love of matrix analysis to determine performance speaks volumes about your inability to recognize innovation.
Pros
Fair growth opportunities, if the person applies themself and makes a point to do the job which is client service.
Cons
Some of the donsides are that you are a little fish in a big pond, this makes it a bit harder to be noticed.
Advice to Senior Management
Some advice would be to continue with the bonus and Salary pooll that has just started back up. This is helping the collegaue morale.
Pros
The pay is good. The people are nice, but the working environment sucks. I guess that's what you get for being an intern
Cons
The days were really long because they didn't really give you much to do. I basically sat at my computer making money. Kinda sweet, but it was sooooooooooo boring.
Advice to Senior Management
Please develop some sort of structured internship program. Give them an organized set of responsibilities. Promote interaction between the interns of the company.
Pros
Lost of good technical information about markets & insurance program strategies.
Cons
A fairly ridgid management structure and philosophy.
Advice to Senior Management
Solicit input from the production teams.
Pros
reward people who step up. relaxed office atmosphere. failrly compensated.
Cons
IT needs to be improved.
Advice to Senior Management
NEW LEADERSHIP IS DOING A GREAT JOB
Pros
Everyone is very friendly, and willing to help out one another. Good salary and work / life balance
Cons
Could get a little boring, but overall a great place to work
Advice to Senior Management
Great leadership and management
