NOT WORTH THE STRESS AND AGGRAVATION

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Brewster, NY

I have been working at Marshalls full-time

ProsThe 10% discount, if you can even call it that.

ConsTotally unprofessional, rude, and uncaring upper management. When your managers are constantly talk about each other and try and undermine each other something is clearly wrong. High turnover rate. Most new associates quit within a couple of months. Constant screaming matches between managers and associates on the sales floor. No room for growth. Terrible working conditions. If you are closing, you will never know when you will be leaving. This is just an allover horrible place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementHigher a new store manager.

Waste of my time and life

Retail Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at Marshalls part-time for more than 5 years

ProsLaid back workplace. Meeting different customers everyday.

ConsManagers will show favoritism when it comes to promotions rather than promoting people they know deserve it. Very high turnover because they hire dingbat managers that take advantage of their positions

No respect

Associate (Former Employee)
Plymouth, MA

I worked at Marshalls part-time for more than a year

ProsLow standards (easy to get hired), 10% discount (gee, thanks!), no set uniform (but there is a strict dress code enforced)

ConsLow standards, low wages, bad corporate policies, useless loss prevention / security, feeling disposable rather than a valuable team-member, customers and managers alike get upset with you for store and company issues

Advice to Senior ManagementYou arrogant slave-drivers at corporate should try working under the conditions you impose upon the hourly laborers! Then you might be more understanding and realistic. Maybe.
