    Pros

Wonderful environment full of great and happy people. In short, the company gave me a well-rounded anticipation for what was to come for my future job endeavors.

    Cons

Not too many form what I can remember. There was traffic and short commutes, but that is usually imbued with individual opinions of how that affects the cons of a job.

    Advice to Management

You guys did amazing work with the employers. It really made me feel like I was a part of a great team.

I worked at Marshalls (More than a year)

    Pros

I really liked my co-workers. They made the work day bearable and sometimes fun. That was all I enjoyed.

    Cons

You started out at minimum wage and raises were few and far between. The management did not communicate effectively with the staff then became mad and condescending when tasks weren't completed correctly. I had to leave work early due to a family emergency and had to return to finish my shift that day or be written up. The work load assigned on any given day was often too much to complete and you would end up working over but over time wasn't permitted so they became angry when they had to cut hours later. The store manager did not want to hire any men, only women. Overall it was not a pleasant work environment and I would not recommend it to anyone

I worked at Marshalls full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Growth potential within the TJX organization Financially stable company Good benefits Competitive salary

    Cons

Amount of meetings and conference calls necessitated for longer work days/weeks

    Advice to Management

Regional management level and up needs to spend more time in the field to really understand what the day to day happenings are like. Very disconnected.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, great benefits, opportunity to move up, associates are great to work with, and a laid back environment

    Cons

Being short staffed can make it stressful and like any other retail job it can be hard to deal with some of the customers

    Advice to Management

Great people, but they need to communicate more and make decisions quicker to better the store

I have been working at Marshalls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are a coordinator your hours are consistent. There is always opportunity to advance if you're willing to transfer.

    Cons

Most stores are understaffed so the majority of your time will be spent in other departments in your department will suffer even though I'm a supervisor I feel as I'm just a regular associate I don't feel respected if anything doesn't get done in your department you will get blamed

    Advice to Management

Stafford Stewart according to your business if you know you have a lot of business you need more people don't try to run the store with three people and then expect it to be perfect at night

I have been working at Marshalls full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Able to be creative, schedule flexibility, growth potential, and motivational programs. Very fast paced environment with never a dull moment.

    Cons

Lots of internal audits, never enough payroll for the workload assigned. Very disorganized inventory system, so you never know what you are getting, and never know what other locations might have.

    Advice to Management

Cut back on some of the audits and programs, so we have time to actually do our jobs. A little more autonomy when it comes to merchandising for our clientele could increase sales.

I worked at Marshalls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

diverse group of people. getting to see all the new merchandise

    Cons

been with the company for more than 5 years. Many associates are treated badly. Hard workers are taken advantage of. Lazy associates get away with doing nothing. poor management team, insensitive to associates' outside life. Management turns their cheeks to bullying. They harass associates for calling out when associates are sick. the amount of work in huge for very little pay. raises for promotions are very little and not worth the amount of responsibility. have to deal with many bad customers everyday.

    Advice to Management

remember that this is retail. Don't expect your associates to dedicate every single second of their lives to a minimum wage, four hour day job. Treat your associates well and they will do well for you.
