I worked at Marshalls part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced work environment so time passed quickly. Taking days off wasn't a problem as long as you filled out a form two weeks ahead of time.

    Cons

Their training is lacking in some areas so quite a few things would be learned by doing it wrong and then being corrected, for example: putting away returned items, which items needed security tags, what a TJX rewards card is, etc.

I worked at Marshalls part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can work as many hours as one wants but not more than 29 hours in a week.

    Cons

They need to give people more hours and benefits.

    Advice to Management

More full time employees, do not cut every one hours at 29, employees need benefits.

    Pros

Fast pace environment; friendly employees; room to grow

    Cons

It is retail after all; sometimes the customers are rude

    Advice to Management

Don't make us use all of our vacation that we earn in the same year we earn it. We should be able to accrue it to a max of 5 weeks.

I worked at Marshalls part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay for students, schedule always made 1-3 weeks in advance, relaxed dress code

    Cons

Always busy and often understaffed. Management is very concerned with company policy and don't listen to employee input. Usually I got stuck doing one monotonous task for my whole shift. I would get stuck on register all day or assigned a larger department than everyone else, and when I asked why I was always told it was because I was the "best" at it.

I have been working at Marshalls full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work is easy enough to handle when you have the right support, and the associates can band together when lead correctly.

    Cons

The organization of the management is a disaster - nothing gets done properly and everything is blamed on lower associates to avoid acknowledging faults of themselves. Unsupportive management leads to a rift between associates and management, making it hard to come together as a team for a low stress environment.

    Advice to Management

Take some time to listen to your employees and actually visit the various departments more often. Going up with the intention of telling them how they're doing everything wrong only lowers morale and ruins any potential for good customer service.

I have been working at Marshalls part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A flexible schedule is possible, able to take off with notice, most employees are friendly and helpful when they can be

    Cons

Scheduling manager doesn't schedule correctly (1 location), lack of coordinators, managers don't interact with each other and tell you different things, managers will leave longer than allowed time

    Advice to Management

Upper management should investigate the locations with high turn over because the problem is usually the management within those stores.
