Pros

From Limestone Mining As Compared to Coal pay Could be Better it has the same heights and awareness,s rules and reg,s.
Advice to Senior Management
To make more appearances be more present and understanding to the clause.
Pros
Benefits and wages are OK but getting worse by the year.
Cons
MMM does not practice what it preaches. No individuality, wants to be Southwest Airlines but has no idea how to get there on the employee side.
Advice to Senior Management
Manage the business for the future and the stock price will take care of itself.
Pros
The company is stable compared to the competition. There is enough foresight to anticipate large economic swings and prepare. Everyone is responsible, and held responsible, at Martin Marietta Materials. I do not know a single employee that does not contribute to the overall success of the company.
Cons
unrealistice expectations of what can be acomplished in a work day. Demanding too much at the last minute with little detail about what is needed or expected. Demanding more than is able to be acomplished with great results instead of good results.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate with and listen to the advice and recomendations of your in field personel. Don't fall into the "Ivory Tower" syndrome.
Pros
Large company with strong financial support. Knowledgeable and fair management with skilled workers. Metropolitan area with good benefits. Opportunities for advancement if showing proper work ethic and aptitude. High levels of responsibility given to workers, team camaraderie strong. The company leadership was impressive with a heavy focus on safety practices and ensuring a positive and safe work envinronment. Plenty of opportunities for workers to discuss benefits and health insurance questions, 401-k and various HR issues, were made available. Leadership from mine management and supervisors was prominent and education of various tasks was always performed in a professional manner by the more experienced mine workers.
Cons
Hours for wage employees can be very long. Overtime offsets long hours but can have multiple weeks in a row much longer hours than what would be expected.
Advice to Senior Management
Not too heavily involved with senior management from the position I was in, and thus would not have any real advice.
Pros
One of the best things about Martin Marietta Materials is the people. Its a solid, ethical company.
Cons
Based on business need, sometimes there is not as much flexibility as would be preferred. However, management is usually quite tolerant of work/life balance issues.
Advice to Senior Management
Steve Zelnak and Ward Nye represent MMM very well. They present strong leaderships skills both internally to employees and externally to the market. They are wonderful leaders and very strong individuals with excellent job knowledge and presence.
