I worked at Martin Marietta Materials full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

They pay you but not very well. They do have some newer plants but that means fewer people to keep cost down.

    Cons

You get to work all of the time. You start at 5 am and get to go home around 7 pm. Don't forget you get to work the weekends also. Don't come in on Sunday you get yelled at. Sales, QC, HR, and Management all spend time pointing fingers and trying to stab one another in the back. They do not fix the actual problems. So if you like long crushing hours and getting blamed when your employees do something dumb its a great company to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to hire and retain managers. You cannot rely on three or so people to run a 24/7 operation.

Stable company - Very Low Salaries - No Growth Opportunities

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Raleigh, NC
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Raleigh, NC

I worked at Martin Marietta Materials full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company overall seems to be a stable business.

    Cons

This company does not like to see their employees grow unless they are Plant Managers. Everyone else needs to be content with where they are and expect not to grow in their current position. Many of the procedures with this company are ancient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place a higher value on existing employees and allow them growth opportunities.

  10.

    Pros

Very stable company, good tenure of upper management, growth oriented, good work/life balance, tight cost controls,

    Cons

Low salaries but not much room for professional growth if you are not willing to relocate, some internal struggles over teritory and market sectors, willing to promote inexperienced low cost staff over more experienced higher salary staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to work on compensation for mid and low management.

Good working environment, but you have to make friends with the "right" people

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Martin Marietta Materials

    Pros

Coworkers are awesome, good benefits, good working environment

    Cons

Management plays favorites, if you are not one of the "pets" you will not advance and I have seen many a good employee get forced out if they were not liked personally ( had nothing to do with their job performance).
