    Pros

Nice food provided and smart hard working engineers around you.

    Cons

Top management has no ideas what they're doing but they decided every single direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The top management there might be the worst in the chip industry - they should have been replaced by professional.

I worked at Marvell Technology as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Our business unit was a casual atmosphere, filled with mostly friendly, brilliant engineers, committed to propelling Marvell forward. The people are great to work with.

    Cons

Not a lot of dedicated, formal training provided (professional growth classes not available to contractors)...not sure if managers know the total picture of what it takes to administrate a unit's initiatives. Contractors should be evaluated after 6 months and made permanent, or let go..don't hire them as "temp to hire" --that is misleading.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus was on hiring new engineers as opposed to looking at current contractors and converting them to employees....even after years of excellent performance reviews and commitment to Marvell. Seems like
a lot of politics, whining and squeaky wheels get what they want.

I have been working at Marvell Technology full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great history... Some tech breakthroughs...

    Cons

Lack of attempt to build a healthy org structure and poor management makes a lot of good people to run away. These people are not being replaced... Which eventually will bring the company down, in my opinion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build a healthy org fundamentals and keep good people or find equal replacements

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Good for people who want to do repetitive mechanical work and aren't interested in learning anything new

    Cons

    Limited growth opportunities
    Not an open culture
Not a good place for thought leader
    Age based promotion

I have been working at Marvell Technology full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very shallow organization. Only 4 levels of hierarchy between engineer and CEO. Entire management chain is highly technical and hands on in most groups.
For someone with enthusiasm and motivation there are endless opportunities and possibilities. There is some politics but very minimal.

    Cons

Lack of long term product roadmap at the executive level. This results in unnecessary thrashing and schedule pressure at the engineering level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Marvell is no longer a startup but transitioning into a mature company. Internal processes and execution have to be adjusted to allow that growth or the company will bootstrap itself from expanding to the next level.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
