    Pros

When sales are up, there is no better company to work for. The benefits are great. The company has a very "family first" attitude.

    Cons

After massive layoffs over the last few of years, morale is low within all levels of the organization. Because of this nervousness, lots of highly skilled, effective employees have found opportunities elsewhere.

    Pros

Campus is very nice with food service. Nice co-workers. Hoping Joe can turn the culture around?

    Cons

Development and succession planning not apparent. Silos harm our ability to move entire company in right direction. Leadership skills at Director level and above lacking. If strategy exists no one knows what it is. Company doesn't't perform so advancement and salary is stagnant. This has been the case for 5 years! Recent promotions Don't look hopeful for changing things- really need some fresh blood that can show how to lead.

    Advice to Management

I've worked for larger and smaller orgs- never experienced a management team that was so disconnected.

    Pros

Great co-workers, that make coming to work fun. They believe in investing in their employees and offer many career opportunities within the company. Quarterly meetings and frequent communications arranged to keep employees up-to-date on the business.

    Cons

Not every department is made to stick to critical deadlines, creating an over-burden on some departments. Late decisions also create stress for an already lean staff.

    Advice to Management

Streamline processes, make earlier critical decisions and be stricter on deadlines. Just because something has "always" been done that way, doesn't mean it still works today; be open to new ideas and ways of doing business.

    Pros

The people/worker bees. Some of the best people around.

    Cons

Not a family since 2010. Poor decisions and can't make tough decisions. Constant rotation of C-level and directors. VPs who micro-manage and don't get to know the process before changing.
Nearly all decisions are knee jerk.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to hire the right people. Evaluate the personalities and not just the skill set.

    Pros

The people (not leadership). Come in to work and always get a good laugh with co workers, very easy to build close relationships with peers.

    Cons

Executive management is an absolute joke. They do not make give good direction or make the hard decisions with what is best for the business in mind. There are a lot of incompetent leaders/managers in positions that make bad calls day in and day out (some of them in those positions because they are tight with upper management not because they are good at what they do). The executive management team is all about saving their own skin above anything else. They are completely disconnected with what happens on a day to day basis. HR is the worst joke of all. There are no career paths, no development, or even an attempt to help change things around. They acknowledge they are bleeding good employees and turnover is super high, yet do NOTHING to help the situation. The current management team has taken what was once a very good company with good reputation and a desired place to work, and turned it to garbage. Feel bad for those who are still stuck there.

    Advice to Management

GET RID OF UPPER MANAGEMENT. None of them are fit to lead but very good at wasting people's time and efforts on initiatives that go no aware, accomplish nothing, and waste money that the company does not have to waste. Realize that what you have created is not a stable work environment that people enjoy coming to. When other companies in the area and recruiters openly admit that it is easy to poach employees from Masco Cabinetry because the place is a disaster, that says A LOT. Advice to non managers - GET OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

    Pros

The people that work there are genuinely good people

    Cons

There is no job security - everyone is worried about getting laid off and they keep closing plants and eliminating jobs.

    Pros

Loved the people - very easy to work with and would help you with your projects. Was a family atmosphere until about 2010.

    Cons

The housing crash caused a lot of tough decisions to be made and management has not done a very good job making them.

    Advice to Management

Set priorities that are achievable. Asking for the moon and not taking into consideration other projects puts tremendous pressure on people. Shortcuts get taken and I believe less gets done in the end than if projects were prioritized from the top.

    Pros

Great work/life balance (at least in engineering) for most people, varies by department. Very good discounts with other Masco companies. Great building/facilities.

    Cons

A great disconnect between executives and what is happening, very poor people development across the organization, excessive politics, high nepotism in specific departments, and an abundance of working managers who are too focused on doing tasks to develop their employees.

    Advice to Management

Decisions should be made on the focus of what is best for Masco Cabinetry not friends/relatives within the ranks. We have strayed far from what we were during our successful years, while the focus on the bottom line is needed, balancing the development of people, true continuous improvement, implementation of actual processes, and reconnect with the business besides just assuming that you know what is best are all truly needed also.
