Pros
The management at MCS was great. They cared about the employees and did the best they could for them. Since so many people were laid off, it provided a lot of opportunities to learn new skills in different areas as the company had to make due with less staff.
Cons
Since the company is doing so poorly, there are frequent layoffs. Therefore, pay raises are out of the question, causing high performing employees to leave. Promotions are not often from within which also encourages the "producers" to look elsewhere for employment.
Advice to Senior Management
Start paying for performance and rewarding your top employees for the value they add.
Pros
great pay, and always work.
Cons
tough work, long hours but consistant
Pros
Large company that looks well on resume
Diverse groups of employees from locals doing menial tasks to large Indian IT group
Cons
Work/Life balance on project life is foreign concept
Just a number in the grand scheme of things
Bonus pay is just an imaginary number that the offer, but never pay out
Fear of company closing
Advice to Senior Management
Have leadership talk to people and not just sit in office behind their walls-
Pros
Good for starters in IT field. mgmt is OK. Work from home is entertained in most departments. very good technical systems are there to learn
Cons
Too many politics (more than warranted). Always looks for scapegoats and throws people under the bus. too many changes in mgmt all the time
Advice to Senior Management
Respect people. Mgmt should have a clear vision what they want and need to do good home work before they initiate any project.
Pros
Competitive pay, exposure to management
Cons
Long hours, few vacation days
Advice to Senior Management
Keep moral high by communicating often
Pros
Do not go into the office on most Sundays. Have a job.
Cons
Appearances are everything. Distrust reigns. Management considers lateral communication suspect. . Information is hoarded. Brown-nosers rule. Management leads by fear.
Advice to Senior Management
Go back and complete your associates degrees, perhaps consider a bachelors in mangement to learn basic skills/techniques.
Pros
-I get to wear jeans on Fridays
-I get free breakfast on Fridays
-Its just 10 mins from Beach
-They have weekly/monthly raffle but you never win unless you have good relations with representative who does it.
Cons
-If there are few I can definitely list those, but what if they are infinite.
-They give lay-offs like wink of an eye
-They fire lower level employees at divisions and home office who make avg of 60K but they keep on hiring on top management having at least 4-5 times of this salary.
-Its very popular with MASCO that its left hand doesnt know what its right hand is doing.
-This April they gave hike of around 1% to 2% to everybody and a week later they fired 30 employees giving a bizzard excuse of 'COST CUTTING' pathetic.
-Some managers are here since they graduated from school without any degrees they have become managers.
-Lots and Lots of politics, you cant even imagine.
-There are about 4-5 VPs, and still hiring. Why a company needs so many VPs when your business is running so badly?
-They dont consider your talent, seniority or honestly while they do lay-offs.
-Benefits are wost than any other company.
-Managers work about 6-7 hours a day and expect their employees to work their ass off.
-People and co-workers are NOT at all friendly.
-It seems people here have come from some country side and dont know how an organization works. As mentioned many have joined this since their school graduation so they dont know how to manage people and work.
-In short Pathetic place to be unless you are above 50+ coz the weather is good.
-Management is not even trying to improve.
-Schools are very bad
-Except Embry-riddle there are no good colleges
-They do performance evaluation but it doesnt mean anything.
-They do survey every 6 months which doesnt add any value.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing because they will NOT change at all. Because our CFO once in his meeting to us said "If you are not satisfied there are plenty of employers in this country"
Pros
I get a paycheck. I get to be home on Friday evenings. I get free bagels on Friday. I have off on most Sundays.
Cons
Expected unpaid overtime probably in violation of labor laws. No training. No career planning.
Many layoffs monthly. No stability. Everyone is or thinks they are your boss, even admins.
Not in Glassdoors Top 50 employers
Advice to Senior Management
Move to Adrian Michigan now before they close this pace.
Pros
The job was better than being unemployed. There are not many employers in Daytona. Maybe if they had some competition for employees, they would treat us better.
Cons
Too many to mention. Bad management. No plan or direction. Bad communication. Unlimited layoffs monthly. You never know when the cube next to you will be cut. The worst amount of vacation time that I have ever had. Lots of expected overtime with no compensation. It goes on and on.....
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up, some day the economic downturn will turn around. When that happens, stay away from the exits or you will be trampled by future ex-employees.
Pros
Daytona Beach
impressive on resume to work for a $2B company
Cons
chaos
objectives are not clear, mostly everyone focused on politics controlled by old guard VP's
no planning, not sure what objectives were, not focused on service to customers at all, in fact, customer are lucky that they get what they contracted for
definitely not a place to learn about anything, most employees are not productive cause they don't know what management sees as important
Advice to Senior Management
Masco corp needs to make major changes, recent changes have been just for show, same old same old, when will corp wake up and get rid of these old political guys who are grossly overpaid, who's reviewing all of these salaries, someone in finance told me that some managers make three times more than others due to political friends, does anybody care??
btw. Mr. DeMarie is not leading MCS anymore, he was promoted to corporate Masco I think
