    Pros

Pay is okay, not great. Job is pretty easy though. Field Rep position gives you a company car or car allowence, whichever you want. You also receive a laptop for work. After one year of service, you receive around 10% of your salary in stock options. You also receive a bonus at the end of the year based on your performance.

    Cons

At times you can put in a lot of hours, work overnights at times as well. In this job, you are basically working for Lowes and Masco (MRSS). Lowes has Masco on a leash and whatever they want they get. Upper brass inside of Masco seem to be Lowes little whipping boys. There can also be some travel involved depending on what area you are in. Since you are salaried, you can end up putting in way over 40 hours a week counting in drive time, time spent at the store, and time working at home.

    Advice to Management

Understand that people have lives outside of masco.

    Pros

Great people to be around, most of the staff are easing going and laid back particularly outside of the office. Broad range of staff as well, which gives many different viewpoints. Many get a laptop for work. Staff is not competitive with each other, and are striving to work well and develop the business.

Salary is okay, not wholly satisfied. Bonuses and raises are based primarily on performance, but during the downturn who knows. Great cafeteria, the food and staff are really nice. Masco also offers a full gym with several treadmills, bikes ellipticals, free weights, and machines. There is an on-site certified trainer from 8:30-5. Also, offers work out classes.

    Cons

Many cuts have been made and job security is a little frightful. There is little feedback or communication on individual performance. It would be nice if there were career mentors available. Tasks seem to be limited to the scope of management, there is little room for individual innovation or thinking. Its definitely a top down approach with a new flavor of the month.

    Advice to Management

Considering the economy and being centered in housing, I don't think there is much more they could be doing.

Great place to work but be prepared for a disconnect between employees and management

    Pros

Opportunities to learn the overall operation of the industry. Excellent work times 8-5. Human resources does a great job of explaining benifits and is willing to help employees achive their goals. If you have the drive and ambition to succeed run can learn a lot about the business because other employees are willing to help and give you information about the company

    Cons

Communication among employees and management. Employees are not sure of the goals and management doesn't give an explanation of the current goals. No system of measurment for the daily activities within the organization. Management allows products to be back ordered for up to a year and by the time the product is received customer has moved on. Company culture is not strong because of the management/employee disconnect.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the office and on to the floor of the business. Management does not understand the employees and doesn't look for opportunities in the organization and for its customers.

must bring more people in from the outside to give a better perspective on what the company can be rather than continuing to keep the same people who have never worked at an outside company.

    Pros

Masco is fairly good on work life balance. They understand that people generally have a life away from work and are accommodative on time off and professional development.

    Cons

Communication is poor and the "top-down" organizational structure makes it difficult to understand what the strategic vision of the company is. Thus, on a day-to-day basis, its hard to see how your work is relevant, and you don't really feel like you're making a difference or your position is important.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to get to know what lower-level employees are working on and have some dialogue with them on what they can do to help the company.

    Pros

Decent benefits package. On site fitness center.

    Cons

Raises/bonues based on how much your boss likes you as opposed to high performance. Morale is very low at this time due to lack of opportunities.

High performers end up moving onto other companies.

    Advice to Management

When a manager continually has high turnover within their dept., maybe you should check into fnding out why. Also, perform an employee job satisfaction survey and find out why your employees are so unhappy.

    Pros

Good place to work, laid-back atmosphere and lots of friendly people. Would work here again if given the opportunity !

    Cons

I really can't think of any at the time. My position was terminated but besides that I don't have any negative view on the company as a whole

    Advice to Management

None at the time. Management is very approachable but not a fan of the separate offices, creates a divide that wasn't efficient

    Pros

Good benefits, pay okay, alot of independence.

    Cons

Job has changed alot to the detriment of District Representatives in MRSS division since March 2010 sales meeting. Most new initiatives seem to come from Lowes. Now, in order to complete even the simplest of tasks, the rep has to "schedule" themselves to do every task by Friday before the week performed in Lowes stores by inputting in co computer what day task will be executed and who they talked to. Monthly weekend sales service is now part of job....

    Advice to Management

Required on-line training programs, expense reports, and travel times are all part of the job. This should be part of the District Reps work day time.
If your recent job satisfaction survey shows the majority of District Representative dissatisfaction rating than there is a problem that needs to be corrected.
