Pros
You will be honed to better the best at what you do. Pressure is something you will learn to adapt to.
Cons
Abusive management, you will be considered as slaves. Be prepared to suck up a lot if you want to get ahead in the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more professional. Handle your staff with care. Stop using abusive language with them. You're only as good as your staff's performance.
Pros
sound professional experience with reasonable package
Cons
insecure short term and tense environment
Advice to Senior Management
warn people considering job offers to expect short term career at the bank given its environment encourages rapid turnover
Pros
Mashreq allowed you to learn a lot because there was a real culture of being agressive and going out there to get business. Unfortunately that culture of education by the seniors is not there. Senior management do not have a long term vision and are bullied by the CEO who is a businessman and not a banker.
Cons
Hollow leadership and lack of committment shown to keep quality people on board. Preferences given to those in the 'in' crowd and lack of true diversity in the business units.
Advice to Senior Management
Need a banker as a CEO and need to retain staff by providing incentive, just the name of Mashreq is no longer enough, unlike before, to keep good people on board
Pros
-Varied responsibility given immediately upon joining in, good opportunity to learn
-Interaction with senior management, opportunity to learn how a complex organization structure works
-fair leave policy
Cons
-Internal politics
-Poor compensation structure
-Antiquated HR Policies
-Internal Knowledge base not up to the mark
-Trainings and external opportunities to learn made extinct
Advice to Senior Management
Too many things to advise to senior management, please listen to your employees, stop being snooty and selfish. Revise pay structure to retain talent
Pros
Gives people with no or little experience to gain exposure and a platform to enter UAE. Mashreqbank is a leading bank in the UAE and GCC.
Cons
Racist Senior Managment who will hire and promote friends and families from their country. Deserving employees are let down due the politics arising from the skin color differentiation.
Advice to Senior Management
The Senior Management should start recognizing people's work and give then deserving compensation.
Have a vision for the team instead micromanaging and getting involved in daily issues.
Pros
Get a foot into the UAE/Dubai job market. Mashreq being a big bank hires a lot of people. It serves as a good spring board for getting exposure to the local market before jumping for another opportunity.
Cons
Lock in period of 3 years...cannot change a job within UAE for 3 years.
Advice to Senior Management
They need to be fair ...a lot of partisan attitude towards unqualified people from Pakistan and Egypt people. Senior people of the same country are known to hire people related/known to them even if they are not remotely qualified / experienced for the job.
Pros
Good pay, decent prospects, not morale, decent benefits.
Cons
Lack of communication down the line is a serious problem
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate
Pros
Technical challenges - very many areas to delve into. The issues and problems alone make is a very interesting place to work. Solutions so old that the entire bank as a whole is being rebuild from the ground up.
Cons
Complete disrespect of the sub-continental employees. The Indian and Pakistani people are used as slave labour to support the infrastructure. Paid so little that many must sleep in shared rooms.
Advice to Senior Management
If you really want to increase shareholder value begin to make the people who work for you feel like they are respected for their efforts not slaves.
