I worked at MassMutual as an intern

    Pros

Good work-life balance. Nice and talent people around you, they are willing to share and help. the Boston office has a very good view and the headquarter at Springfield is beautiful and huge. The Boston office gets many creative and innovation ideas, while the main campus inherits good and stable professional working traditions as a 150-year company should have.

    Cons

The Boston office is kinda crowd and maybe needs more space. The main campus gives people a stress feeling, not the workload, but because the light and the wall color.

    Advice to Management

Maybe hire more young talent to the company to bring new blood and energy to the home office as well as to the Boston office.

    Cons

Not a great training [program for new sales executives. Its too basic and too short. Needs work.

I have been working at MassMutual (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The home office offers its employees many benefits, from a full gym, a cafeteria serving hot breakfast and lunch, to a Starbucks, Credit Union, Farmer's Market, and convenience store.

    Cons

Certain areas of the company value their employees more than others. Depending on the work you do for the company has an effect on any potential bonus, overtime offered, and more.

    Advice to Management

When an employee that is salaried does work that is not in their job description for several months, reward them monetarily, especially when the others in that same group were rewarded monetarily.

I have been working at MassMutual (Less than a year)

    Pros

This company is very supportive. They have financed all of my license exams and are encouraging every step of the way.

    Cons

This company does not do draws, financial stipulations or anything like that. Great company to work for though.

    Advice to Management

I would say keep up the good work. You guys know what youre doing and now thanks to you, so do I!

    Pros

Great company to work for; Constant increases to salary; Upper management really does take employee issues into consideration

    Cons

Hardly any. The phone calls are sometime annoying and vacation time has to be scheduled a year in advance.

I have been working at MassMutual full-time

    Pros

Solid Company Clear communication on pay

    Cons

High E&O premiums with no choice of coverage company Technology like most insurance companies

    Advice to Management

Fix the technology for the advisers to be more user friendly. The producer site is impossible to find anything you need, especially in an emergency. Bouncing around different pages to find what you need is aggravating.

    Pros

Good benefits even with recent changes, flexible work arrangements, long-term view versus quarterly pressures, forward thinking, expanding digital capabilities and functionality

    Cons

limited opportunity for advancement in management ranks, flat organization, taking lean management to the extreme at times. Middle management feel stifling at times.
